Job Description

1. Purpose of the job:

The innovative and effective deployment of data and analytics is key to the success of companies today. AkzoNobel is no exception as we seek to embed the improved understanding of data across the company. Identifying and implementing opportunities to optimize the use of data within our Research & Development (R&D), Manufacturing, Integrated Supply Chain (ISC), Marketing and Sales, Finance, HR and Sourcing Functions have been services delivered from our MDM Global Organisation over the last few years. We need additional support in these areas with a strong focus on Innovate, Plan, Make and Deliver. For these reasons, GBS Data and Reporting requires a Data Domain Expert to support our path forward on Business Intelligence

• The Senior Data Engineer owns and extends the business’s data pipeline through the collection, storage, processing, and transformation of large data-sets.
• Additionally develop queries for ad hoc business projects, as well as ongoing reporting. In this capacity, the Senior Data Engineer builds a metadata system where all available data is maintained and catalogued.  Also plays major role in the development of reliable data pipelines that translate raw data into powerful features and signals.
• Architects, designs, implements and maintains reliable and scalable data infrastructure.
• Collect business requirements from the various stakeholders (Data Scientists, Data Visualizers, Product Managers, IT)
• Translate business requirements into technical requirements, systems, and solutions
• Design, develop and document the technical solution: creation of data pipelines for data transfer between different storage services
• Perform data transformation, cleaning , modelling data

• Bachelors or equivalent Degree and above
• Overall work experience of 10+ years with ~2 years of exposure in Databricks
• Experience in designing and building advanced ETL pipelines in a big data environment
• Platform: Azure Data factory, Databricks, SQL, and other Azure resources
• Programming languages: Scala, Python, PySpark, SQL
• Working knowledge of SAP systems, & BI platforms
• Experience in BI stacks- SSIS, SSAS.
• Experience in RDBMS and data modelling
• Good to have experience of team management
• Knowledge of data warehousing principles, architecture and implementation.
• Keeps deadlines and produces high-quality output
• Fosters a constructive dialogue with support functions and key stakeholders
• Strong communicator
