Job Purpose
Leading NPI, EoU projects covering Marine end use, design the work program independently. Communicate with global team and ensure effective and on time delivery of products & projects in accordance with the Operational Plan – (50%)
C&C support including on-site inspection and lab simulations test– (20%)
Provide technical supports to local business (sales & customer) requests, attending test trials; assess additional coating schemes required by sales, preparing panels & lab paints, etc / - (20%)
Provide technical support to Production team to improve manufacturing process for new/existing products based on lab data, support FBC - (10%)
Key Accountabilities
Manage the effective planning and day to day requirements for assigned projects and support activities
- Understand drivers for work and translate to product requirements in relation to business needs
- Planning and executing short & longer term projects via LWR independently. Adaptive planning based on potential outcomes.
- Reports results, involved in making technical conclusions/recommendations and next step plans. Summarizes and presents key results/findings and generates lab/MLR reports independently.
- Design, carry-out, evaluate & interpret experiments under own direction. Prepare formulation transfer packages as deputy of line manager.
- Play a key role on support Marine C&C
Work interactions
- Ensure sufficient interactions with own manager and other team members during day-to-day work. Interactions with internal customers (other departments or functions such as procurement; sales; TSR, etc) when required.
- Interacts with external customers (e.g. regarding claims/complaints tackling and trials management) as deputy of line manager.
- Able to coordinate people from across teams/functions to carry out short-term pieces of work with limited support from line manager when required.
Individual training & development
- Coach employees (Technologist III and lower) with support from line manager on general aspects: coating knowledge; lab skills; technical procedures, etc.
- Make good use of technical platforms within Akzonobel to broaden technical knowledge/understanding in day to day manner.
- Demonstrate commitment and responsibility to integrity and ethics
H&S and 5S/housekeeping
- Ensure compliance with Akzonobel Product Stewardship Policy.
- Commitment to H&S and 5S during working hours.
Undertake additional activities as required, within the scope of the role

Experience
- Bachelor Degree in polymer chemistry or related subject is required, Master Degree or above is preferred
- > 3 years relevant work experiences.
- Understanding / knowledge in marine coating technologies, experiences in technical supports on marine coating or relevant industries are preferred.
- Sufficient lab skills required, quickly on board. Capable of planning; prioritizing; conducting and reporting technical activities with limited supports. Good time management skill.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Team player.
- Good command of both oral and written English.
- Open minded. Self-learning and disciplined.
