Job Details
Territory: Ontario and Manitoba
Travel: 50% overall (30% local, 20% overnight)
Location: This position is classified as remote, with work performed from a home office rather than a standard AkzoNobel site.
Total Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $85,000 – $100,000
- Bonus: 35% based on individual and corporate performance
- Vehicle Allowance: $800/month + mileage reimbursement
- Time Off: 3 weeks vacation, 5 personal/sick days, 3 floater days

Job Purpose
Drive profitable sales growth for AkzoNobel’s Wood Coatings portfolio by expanding market share, securing new business, and deepening relationships with key customers within the assigned territory. You will consult with OEM manufacturers to understand their finishing needs and provide coating solutions that enhance quality, efficiency, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Territory Growth
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the wood coatings market.
- Promote AkzoNobel wood finishing technologies to increase product line adoption.
- Develop and execute territory plans to achieve sales and profitability targets.
- Maintain strong sales pipeline management and accurate forecasting.
- Prepare and deliver quotations, pricing, and service agreements to customers.
- Monitor competitive activity, market trends, and pricing strategies.
Customer Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with customer executives, purchasing teams, and production leaders.
- Ensure timely resolution of customer issues and escalate as needed to internal support teams.
- Provide ongoing value to customers by highlighting product innovations and improvements.
- Proactively strengthen customer loyalty through professional engagement and support.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Technical Service Representatives to ensure successful product trials, launches, and ongoing performance.
- Coordinate requirements with manufacturing, supply chain, R&D, and marketing to meet customer needs.
- Participate in cost-improvement initiatives and product optimization programs with customers.
- Industry & Technology Knowledge
- Stay current on wood coating technologies, application methods, and compliance regulations.
- Attend trade shows, seminars, and customer events as approved by leadership.
Decision-Making & Autonomy
Motivated self-starter and independent worker with minimal supervision. Plan and manage travel and customer visits independently to drive business outcomes.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education preferred; Chemical background an asset.
- 3 to 5 years of successful industrial sales experience; or relevant wood finishing experience.
- Strong communication and presentation skills in English. French Bilingualism is an Asset.
- Computer Skills: Skilled with advanced business tools: Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Power BI and CRM
