Job Purpose

The Regional Talent & Development Manager North America will implement and deliver global Talent and Development initiatives in the areas of Talent Management, Learning & Development, Performance Management and Diversity & Inclusion.

  • Understands the needs of the local businesses and acts as expert consultant to business / functional and HR leaders on Talent Management, Learning & Development, Performance Management and Diversity & Inclusion.
  • Builds capability in the region to deliver on the AkzoNobel strategy.
  • Contributes to the design & development of global programs by sharing expertise knowledge and regional perspectives.
  • Manages a small team of Regional Talent and Development Advisors with responsibility for Talent Management, Learning and Development, Performance Management and Diversity & Inclusion in the region to deliver services to the business aligned to the global HR model.         

This position will be located in the North America AkzoNobel Headquarters Office in Nashville, TN

Key Accountabilities

  • Embeds and implements global Talent Management, Learning & Development and Culture processes in the region in an aligned way.
  • Plans and resources (people & budgets) global Talent Management, Learning & Development and Culture initiatives for regional deployment.
  • Captures & analyses the regional needs and acts as expert consultant to regional leaders on CoE topics.
  • Designs, develops and delivers (internally or outsourced) local Talent Management, Learning & Development and Culture programs aligned with global Talent Management, Learning & Development and Culture policies.
  • Identifies development needs in the region and ensures these are rolled up into the global Talent Management, Learning & Development and Culture plan.
  • Builds capability of HR BPs and People Managers in the region to support them in delivering on the company's strategy.
  • Manages and engages key stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure alignment and commitment on the Talent Management, Learning & Development and Culture agenda.
  • Implements / facilitates change interventions at regional leadership team level.
  • Keeps up to date on best practices and any legal, fiscal or organizational changes which may impact the Talent Management, Learning & Development and Culture arena.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree ideally in Psychology, Management, Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant work experience, of which min. 3 years in Regional Talent Management, Learning & Development, Performance Management and/or Diversity & Inclusion roles.
  • Ability to influence senior level stakeholders.
  • Proven international orientation, cultural and D&I awareness.
  • Ability to drive and implement change in the organization.
  • Experienced in assessing the needs of the customers and translating these into appropriate solutions.
  • Knowledge of reporting and measurement processes for Talent Management, Learning & Development, Performance Management and Diversity & Inclusion initiatives and programs.
  • Experienced in external benchmarking, including keeping track of trends and developments. 
  • Analytical capability, assessment capability and coaching experience / certification.
  • Proven track record in identifying, selecting and commercially negotiating with external partners. 
  • Experience in building, managing and engaging talent pipelines. 
  • Track record in successful project management of training program design, development & delivery. 
  • Ability to facilitate, coach and effectively deliver training.
  • Proven capability to effectively manage and motivate a remote team.
  • Working in a multinational matrix organization and having experience in a business in/outside of AkzoNobel is seen as a plus. 
  • Fluent in English (our business language) and dominant regional language(s).
