Job Purpose

  • This is a generalist Procurement role supporting all categories of Indirect Procurement for North America – Capex, Technical Goods & Services, Real Estate and Facilities, Workforce Services, and Enterprise Services.  Total spend across all categories is ~200M€.
  • The Country Buyer collaborates with Regional Indirect Category Managers, business stakeholders and P2I teams to deliver short and long-term commercial benefits within their geographic responsibility. They do so by achieving significant cost reductions while maintaining or improving product and/or service quality levels. 
  • The Country Buyer is responsible for executing global and regional category strategies in their geographic responsibility under the stewardship of the relevant Global or Regional Category Manager.
  • The position is responsible for the delivery of Commercial Procurement support for Statement of Work (SoW) requirements between €15 - €100k for their geographical responsibility and Procurement activities requiring specific local intervention for general requests and Capex requests up to € 250k
  • The role is required to ‘prevent spend leakage’ by reducing supplier base complexity and leveraging use of preferred suppliers to reduce the frequency of spot purchases.
  • In addition, the role is expected to bring knowledge in Category driven improvement projects such as complex tenders, contract support, and other special assignments.
  • Skills and experiences necessary for success in this position include having a strong background in Indirect Procurement, stakeholder management, supplier management, contract management, excellent communication skills, and being an ambassador of cultural change.
  • This role will use their sourcing knowledge to support Global and Regional Category Managers in implementing the global and regional strategies for the categories by doing projects and RFPs (request for proposal) with medium-value sub-categories/suppliers
  • Fluent English language skills are essential with additional fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese desirable

Key Accountabilities

  1. Be able to do spend analysis and suggest projects to consolidate suppliers
  2. Execute medium-value (€15-€100k) sourcing projects
  3. Execute some high value and high complexity (>€100k) sourcing projects with Category Manager stewardship e.g. Capex requests
  4. Prepare business cases supporting sourcing recommendations including competitive bidding, negotiating, analyzing data and market trends
  5. Provide contract management and interface with Legal department
  6. Able to interact with multiple stakeholders in regional cluster of countries on development of procurement business cases as well as  policy development and conformance
  7. Act as the sourcing interface between P2I and NPR Procurement organization for escalation issues

Key Activities

  • The role will have to lead decisions on identifying opportunities for cost savings in cluster of countries with relevant Category Manager guidance
  • Routinely develop deep market understanding and country/region specific benchmarking for the industry through methods that include competitive bidding, negotiating, and analyzing data and market trends
  • Agree with relevant Category Manager and sign-off on sourcing projects that will aid in cost optimization
  • The role is the co - owner to ensure that performance KPI’s are a correct representation of reality.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Master’s Degree and/or Procurement accreditation will be an asset
  • Minimum 2 years of purchasing/sourcing experience, with international experience preferred, but not required
  • Prior experience with Procurement sourcing suites (SAP Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer, Zycus, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Fluency in English required with language proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese desirable
  • Comfortable working in a matrix organization structure
