Job Purpose

The individual in this position works in the maintenance department to support the functioning of the production department—to include, but not limited to, the repair and maintenance work as well as the preventative maintenance and installation work. Additionally, the individual is also responsible in certain cases to provide support to maintain/repair the company assets which are installed on site. 

Key Accountabilities

Be proficient in the following trade skills:


  • Understand the use of drilling and tapping
  • Fabricate objects made from steel, plastic, or other resources based on drawings or needs
  • Be able to tear down and rebuild pumps, gearboxes and fans
  • Be able to install roller chain, sprockets, pulleys, bearings, seals and general mechanical components



  • Be able to weld using both electric and gas welders on both Carbon and Stainless steel
  • Understand basic torch and plasma cutting skills and be proficient at using Oxygen/Acetylene torch and plasma cutting tools



  • Be able to cut and thread pipe up to 2 inches
  • Be able to work with copper pipe and fittings including the ability to sweat pipe joints
  • Be able to use PVC pipe for both glue and threaded applications
  • Understand basic toilet and sink applications and how to repair components of each
  • Understand both electric sump and pneumatic diaphragm type pumps and how to rebuild
  • Be able to operate augers to clean out drains, toilets or other clogged pipes



  • Be able to perform basic electrical functions on voltages up to 480 Volt, 3 phase systems
  • Be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues with fuses, electrical heaters, relays and breakers
  • Be able to install and wire motors along with troubleshooting motor faults and issues

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Associates Degree in Maintenance Technology or similar field preferred
  • 3 years’ experience performing electrical and mechanical repairs
  • Must be proficient with basic hand and power tools.  Must possess basic set of tools to complete daily maintenance work
  • Must be able to read basic blue prints
  • Must be able to utilize micrometers and other measuring devices to provide a working sketch of machine parts
  • Must be able and qualified to operate a lift truck
  • Must possess basic math, reading, and writing skills.  Must also possess effective communication skills
  • Must be able to follow directions and complete maintenance activities safely as directed by facility supervision
  • Must be able to successfully complete oral, written, and hands-on competency assessments

Physical Requirements

Working conditions will consist of a paint factory environment that has the potential of exposure to hazardous chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, heat and noise (ranges 75db to 85db).  

Physical requirements are standing for periods of time, sitting, working on a computer, walking, writing, kneeling, crouching and climbing stairs.    The employee must have good hearing and good vision, including peripheral vision and depth perception, to determine proper fit and operation of parts and equipment and product cleanliness to eliminate sources of product contamination in the clean-up process.  The employee must also be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Ability to recognize indicated temperature and pressure to maintain safe operations and protect personnel, equipment and products from harm
  • Ability to work safely and at ease while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment including: respiratory protection, gloves, safety shoes, hearing protection, aprons, face shields etc.

Work Schedule

This position will work third shift.  The weekly schedule is Sunday night through Friday morning:  10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.
