Position Summary:

The Regional Accounting Center delivers accounting and reporting services and expertise for the businesses that it serves. The Indirect Tax Analyst will be a member of the team assisting with the execution of activities that require the use of specific accounting systems (e.g. in SAP/HFM and other ERP systems/applications) using the accounting rules (IFRS), mainly in the area of record-to-report.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Support and execute in an accurate and timely way the required ongoing Sales and Use Tax, Property Tax and miscellaneous Business Registration filings for the entities in the USA and Canada.
  • Key Indirect Tax operations expert for the region
  • Maintain and monitor the Indirect tax compliance of the entities with outside service providers
  • Assist the Corporate Tax Department with Indirect Tax Audits
  • Prepare annual 1099 and other informational forms as needed
  • Ensure tax relevant intercompany journal entries are properly recorded and documented
  • Prepare and review monthly general ledger account reconciliations for various sales and use tax, property tax, and other miscellaneous tax accounts, including creating and submitting journal entries, as needed
  • Daily interaction with the Country Tax Managers and Global Business Services (Shared Services) organization
  • Advises on complex matters or questions related to Indirect tax, including training and knowledge sharing with internal customers
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate processes and controls and drive continuous improvement

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • 2-5 years of experience in an indirect tax role and capable of analyzing complex tax processes and issues
  • Adequate knowledge in Indirect tax matters (e.g. USA sales/use tax, Canadian GST/HST/QST/PST, and personal and real property tax matters)
  • Ability to work in accordance with Tax Team Lead under time pressure during month-end close and continuously retain ‘an eye’ for the details
  • Autonomous in organizing responsibilities and work
  • Good working knowledge of accounting in SAP or similar ERP system
  • Full professional proficiency in English
