Job Purpose

The Regional Accounting Center delivers accounting and reporting services and expertise for the businesses that it serves. The team executes activities that require the use of specific accounting systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems/applications using the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) accounting rules in the area of record-to-report.  The team works in close cooperation with the business, Infosys (Finance Business Process Outsourcing provider) and additional Global Business Shared Services Centers.  
 

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for IFRS specific accounting areas in the region (inventory, intercompany, treasury, GL, legal, legacy, fixed assets and pension accounting)
  • Responsible for the accounting for one or more legal entities in the regions including
  • Advises on complex matters or questions related to the IFRS subject
  • Support and execute in an accurate and timely way the required ongoing, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting related activities and Balance Sheet Reconciliation process
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate processes and controls and drive continuous improvement
  • Key expert for the region and part of the global IFRS expert network 
  • Intercompany Accounting (report/review and resolution of intercompany mismatches)
  • Analyze Balance Sheet (BS), Profit and Loss (P&L) figures and variances
  • Assure that month end closing deadlines are met
  • Focus on Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss for legal entities, executing high level review and answering specific expertise questions during month and month-end closing
  • Drive changes in policies with reference to IFRS.  Ensure changes are reflected and embedded in the processes (training / Standard Operating Procedures/ policy / communications) 
  • Ensure governance structure is applied, monitor adherence to internal control requirements
  • Daily interaction with Global Business Services (Shared Services) organization
  • Drive standardization across Business Units in the region and guard the integrity and quality of the delivered accounting in the specific accounting area
  • Contribute to projects that require IFRS expertise and have an impact on accounting (SAP rollout, integration of legal entities)
  • Contribute to thought leadership and information exchange within global accounting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required 
  • 3-5 years’ accounting experience required.  Experience with multiple business units preferred
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles.  Month-end close cycle experience required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.  Experience with SAP preferred 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Effective analytical skills with the ability to pay attention to details
  • Ability to build relationships with customers/stakeholders in a multi-national environment 
  • Must demonstrate initiative and independent judgment in solving routine problems 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment to meet deadlines 
  • Must be proficient in English
