A Process Engineers primary responsibility is to provide technical assistance to manufacturing operations to ensure successful product introduction, and to optimise formulations to drive efficiency gains through Operational Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and reduce total cost of quality (TCQ) through Right First Time and off-spec production performance.
This role will be based onsite in Sunshine North, Melbourne and report to the Manufacturing Manager.
What you will do
The key aspects of the role will include:
- Actively participate in corporate Health, Safety & Environment programs within the Sunshine Manufacturing facility to prevent harm to persons and the environment.
- Identify and implement improvement opportunities by leading the manufacturing teams with regular reviews of digitised Operational Equipment Efficiency (OEE) data.
- Management of, and / or participation in, small group improvement activities aimed at improving manufacturing performance whilst reducing TCQ. Reducing out of specification product manufacture and improving Right First-Time manufacture through RCA investigation and statistical analysis.
- Working within the framework of ‘AkzoNobel Leading Performance Systems’ (ALPS) continuous improvement journey you will work closely with the Site CI Manager to lead the implementation of all aspects within the Powder Coatings manufacturing team.
- Work collaboratively with the Engineering and Quality teams to understand Root Cause of failures and identify improvements.
- Support the Plant Management team to achieve production related KPI’s
- Take a leading role in improvement projects (capital & non-capital) to drive productivity & quality efficiencies in the factory.
What you will need to have
To be a successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
- Bachelor of Engineering or relevant related discipline
- Some years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in coatings industry
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety and quality programs related to a manufacturing plant
- Practical experience in quality control activities, preferably in a paint or chemicals environment
- Excellent communications, influencing and relationship building skills across all levels of the organisation
- Demonstrate good judgement with the ability to remain objective and operate effectively when under pressure
- Ability to make decisions within limits set or in the absence of higher management
- Good leadership skills with the ability to inspire others, lead by example and drive improvement
- Competent computer skills
