About The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our Sunshine, Melbourne manufacturing site. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing maintenance services to ensure the operational availability of plant and equipment.
We will count on you to:
- Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to the site health safety and environment policy and guidelines. This includes maintaining up-to-date knowledge of safety standards and ensuring all work is performed in compliance with these standards to avoid any legal or safety issues.
- Efficiently allocate tasks to contractors and in-house maintenance staff based on the urgency and priority of each job. This involves assessing the skills required for each task and matching them with the appropriate personnel to ensure timely and effective completion.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule that includes both preventative and reactive maintenance tasks. This ensures that equipment is regularly serviced to prevent breakdowns and that any issues are promptly addressed to minimise downtime.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including equipment specifications, maintenance history, and parts inventory. Utilise the SAP system to ensure all data is accurately recorded and easily accessible for future reference.
- Lead weekly planning meetings with production teams to align maintenance activities with production schedules. This includes creating forward-looking plans that optimise preventative maintenance compliance while meeting operational requirements.
- Generate detailed monthly reports on maintenance activities, including key performance indicators (KPIs) such as equipment uptime, maintenance costs, and compliance with safety standards. These reports provide valuable insights for continuous improvement and strategic planning.
- Conduct thorough investigations into equipment failures to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. This involves leading cross-functional teams in problem-solving sessions and ensuring that all corrective actions are effectively planned and executed.
- Oversee the maintenance spare parts inventory to ensure that critical parts are always available. This includes managing inventory levels, ordering new parts as needed, and working with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
What you need to have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field in maintenance management or reliability engineering are highly desirable.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience in contractor management and predictive/preventative maintenance techniques is essential.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software (e.g. SAP) and other relevant tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as experience with root cause analysis and reliability-centered maintenance.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong leadership abilities to manage and motivate maintenance staff and contractors.
- High level of attention to detail to ensure all maintenance activities are performed accurately and safely. Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions. Ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions.
