About The Role:

Join our team in Sunshine, Melbourne as a Factory Process Engineer and be the driving force behind optimising our manufacturing processes! If you're passionate about improving production efficiency and ensuring high-quality output, this role is for you. You'll report to our Paint Plant Manager and work closely with a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive technical support to the Quality Control and manufacturing teams. This includes assisting with the manufacture and testing of all products to ensure they meet the required specifications and quality standards.
  • Lead the introduction of new products into the factory. Ensure that all specifications and formulations are suitable for production, and coordinate with various departments to facilitate a smooth transition from development to manufacturing.
  • Manage and participate in small group improvement activities aimed at enhancing manufacturing performance and reducing costs. This involves identifying areas for improvement, developing action plans, and implementing changes to optimize processes.
  • Troubleshoot and reduce the number of faulty batches by developing and implementing preventative systems. This includes analyzing production data, identifying root causes of issues, and taking corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety requirements and actively participate in safety improvement tasks. This involves conducting safety audits, implementing safety protocols, and promoting a culture of safety within the factory.
  • Provide technical assistance in reworking out-of-specification material and train plant personnel in the technical aspects of paint manufacture. This includes developing training materials, conducting training sessions, and providing ongoing support to ensure staff are knowledgeable and competent.
  • Lead small projects aimed at driving productivity and quality efficiencies in the factory. This involves planning and executing projects, monitoring progress, and ensuring that project goals are achieved on time and within budget.

What you need to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related field).
  • Experience in a management or supervisory position within a manufacturing setting, preferably in the coatings or chemicals industry.
  • Practical experience in quality control, knowledge of safety and quality programs relative to a laboratory environment.
  • Excellent communication, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders is crucial.
  • Ability to make informed decisions within set limits or in the absence of higher management. This includes assessing situations, considering potential impacts, and choosing the best course of action.
  • Experience in managing teams and coordinating cross-functional activities is important.
  • Proficiency in using software tools for data analysis, project management, and process optimisation is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions.
