Job Purpose

Develop new and improved coating formulations and film casting methods to align with Research and Development strategy. Develop, execute, and analyze research for new film products. Contribute to strategic objectives by gaining insights and driving developments.

Key Accountabilities

  • Plan, execute, analyze, and report experiments within the business unit.
  • Participate in projects, providing solution directions and guidance.
  • Deliver timely and quality results for projects aligned with business need using effective methodologies.
  • Identify, share, and apply new technologies and solutions for coatings and paints.
  • Remain up-to-date on research methods, contributing to knowledge retention.
  • Provide functional support to junior chemists/technicians.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment, adhering to safety policies.

Job Requirements

  • Education and experience must include one of the following:
    • Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry or Chemical Technology with 3 years' experience in coatings formulation and applications.
    • Master of Science Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Technology with 5 years' experience in coatings formulation and applications.
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry or Chemical technology with 8 years' experience in coatings formulation and applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of coating film testing, analysis, and characterization.  Knowledge of various film fabrications and applications in the automotive industry, polymer analysis/characterization, and roll to roll coating technology preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in polymer science and organic chemistry.  Experience in Design of Experiments (DOE) required.
  • Experience in project management and the Stage Gate process preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Total Compensation

The compensation package for this position will include a base salary, annual bonus, and employee benefits that are effective the first day of employment.
