Job Purpose
The Process Engineer in Lancaster serves as technical leadership for multiple product families from batch-making through the necessary coating, slitting, and/or laminating processes. This role drives scale-up of internal and customer-driven product development efforts on the primary production equipment and provides manufacturing support for established products/processes. Additionally, the Process Engineer supports the site in building and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement and ensures products delivered to the customer meet the agreed quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for multiple product families from batch-making through necessary coating, slitting, and/or laminating processes.
- Draft and maintain specifications detailing machine settings as well as product conformity criteria for operators and lab technicians.
- Coordinate readiness of equipment and parts to support production and trials for assigned products.
- Support the site in building and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement.
- Drive improvement in yields, quality, customer satisfaction, and efficiency on assigned products.
- Train and certify as an AkzoNobel Continuous Improvement Advanced Practitioner (LSSYB-equivalent) through completion of a DMAIC improvement project.
- Ensure products delivered to the customer meet the agreed quality standards.
- Aid in development and implementation of the plant-wide Quality Management System (QMS).
- Organize meetings with commercial, technical business partners, and QC to evaluate customer satisfaction and actively participate in the investigation of customer complaints and delivery of associated improvement plans.
- Adhere to all AkzoNobel Life Saving Rules and the Golden Principle.
Job Requirements
- BS Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical) or related discipline and 5 years of experience in roll-to-roll converting. 15 years of experience in roll-to-roll converting in lieu of degree is acceptable.
- Ability to work with solvents, machinery, and computer systems.
- Demonstrated ability in the application of film processing and handling equipment (i.e., coating dies, winders, tension transducers, web surface treaters, vision systems, slitters, roll laminators).
- Lean and/or Six Sigma knowledge, certification a plus.
- Experience with ISO 9001. and SQL or SCADA a plus.
Compensation Data
The salary range for these skills is: $79,000.00 - 88,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
