Job Purpose
- Ensure full compliance with Pakistan’s direct and indirect tax regulations.
- Accurately and timely file all tax returns.
- Manage and resolve tax assessments and audits.
- Engage proactively with tax authorities and external consultants.
- Support strategic decision-making by providing tax-related insights.
- Ensure all business transactions comply with applicable fiscal laws.
Key Accountabilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns in accordance with federal and provincial regulations.
- Manage quarterly and annual income tax filings, including advance tax payments and deferred tax calculations.
- Submit withholding tax statements and ensure timely remittance to authorities.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for all tax filings and ensure audit readiness.
Audit & Assessment Management
- Lead the resolution of tax assessments, audits, and inquiries by compiling relevant data and coordinating with external consultants.
- Act as the primary liaison with tax authorities, auditors, and internal stakeholders during audits and inspections.
Process & System Improvements
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of tax ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in tax operations.
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to optimize SAP FICO usage for tax reporting.
Strategic Support
- Provide tax advisory support for new business initiatives, contracts, and transactions.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the business.
- Support transfer pricing documentation and compliance, if applicable.
Others
- Risk Management: Develop and maintain a tax risk register and mitigation strategies.
- Training & Development: Conduct internal training sessions on tax compliance for finance and operations teams.
- Digital Transformation: Lead initiatives to digitize tax documentation and automate compliance workflows.
- Cross-border Taxation: If applicable, support regional tax matters including withholding tax on cross-border payments and treaty benefits.
Experience
- 5–6 years in taxation, preferably in a multinational or large corporate environment
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office Suite
- Working knowledge of SAP FICO
- Familiarity with FBR and provincial tax portals
- Understanding of Company Law, Fiscal Regulations, and State Bank Trade Finance rules
Education
- ACCA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification
