Job Purpose

This role is based in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

To increase sales of the International range of Marine and Protective coatings:

through the development of new and existing customers;

to an established budget; and to achieve Return on Sales in accordance with the MPC budget

Key Accountabilities

Maintain an acute awareness of the Marine and Protective Coatings industry, its new products and trends and analyse customer circumstances and requirements

Develop new and existing customers; identify new projects and existing and emerging users of Marine and Protective coatings; and develop credibility in the industry through the provision of technical advice and assistance

Negotiate long-term contracts and seek guidance from the Regional Sales Manager where required

Provide first level after-sales technical service and problem-solving to customers, technical personnel and facility owners and refer more complex matters to the Regional Sales Manager or Technical Group

Visit customers on-site and negotiate the sale of International Marine and Protective Coatings products

Participate in the development of the Marketing Plan by reviewing case history files

Actively participate in regular sales meetings, stock demand planning/ forecasting meetings, conferences and training as required

Follow-up of late payments by customers

Keep up-to-date with technical developments

Attend local corrosion association seminars and social functions

Produce appropriate documentation in accordance with ISO9001 requirements

Administer appropriate documentation as required, including that which is required through statutory authorities

Maintain close contact with MPC sales force including Regional Sales Manager, Area Managers,  Technical Group, Key Account Managers, Market Managers and Technical Service staff in order to utilise opportunities to secure sales effectively

Provide monthly sales reporting as a basis for forecasting

 

 

Experience

At least 3 years’ experience in the Marine and Protective Coatings industry

Strong interpersonal, negotiation and/or influencing skills and willingness to demonstrate persistence

A customer/business focus with ability to network within the industry.

A flexible and team-oriented approach.

Ability to exhibit commercial confidentiality

Detail minded to ensure specifications are correct

A high level of personal organisation skills.

A desire to learn about the Marine and Protective coatings industry both from internal and external training.

A Degree/Diploma in Science or Engineering.

Experience or knowledge of steel coatings and blast cleaning

Experience in the passive fire protection industry

Experience in dealing with contracting companies and technical personnel

Sales experience

Computer literacy

ACA Inspection Certificate or NACE CIP to Level 2

An understanding of broader business issues related to a sales role.
