Job Purpose
Sub-Segment managers for Pro, Superyacht and OEM will identify the business opportunities (volume, value and CM), where the organization can create revenue with targeted CM in support of the Segment Manager and the overall plan. This covers the where to play and how to win strategy in the designated segment.
Key Responsibilities
This role needs to capture insights, create intiatives and provide direction for the development of products and services required to win in the selected market area. The role works closely with the segment manager and commerical teams to provide input for the product group and marketing excellence portfolio activities and direction for regional implementation, working extremly closely with regional marketing on implementation.
Has Global responsibility and ensures delivery of sub-segment (segment) mandate is in alignment with the BU mandate. Contributes to the revenue and profitability targets for the segment by using and coordinating (with relevant BU marketing experts) all marketing levers such as strategy, Go to Market Models, Innovation, Portfolio management, Brand management, Communications, Digital and color.
- Contributes to the execution of sales - and profitability targets established by the SMU by implementing strategic go-to-market models and translating strategy into initiatives, contributing through the formulation of sub-segment Plans which deliver on SMU strategy across regions Americas, (Europe) EMEA, and Asia Pacific.
- Through creation of sub-segment plan, defines where to play and how to win in given sub-segment (in context of overall segment), developing differentiated value propositions and concepts and deploying them into the business while working with the Regional Marketing Managers on the regional execution.
- Responsible for strategic marketing activities, working to establish go-to-market models with key customers to enable implementation of sustainable competitive advantage.
- Working with Regional Marketing and Product teams to develop of customer, competitor and market insights which aid development of winning value propositions & concepts including product, service and capability changes.
- Creates clear positioning for AkzoNobel, our products and our services (concepts) and works with segment manager and Marketing Excellence on campaign activities to drive industry leading customer demand for our products, services and brands – including provision of subsegment related content.
- Develops a thorough understanding of needs within the sub-segment through market research in order to create and implement needs-based segmentation models through close co-operation with regions.
- Translates needs into clear value propositions. Fully engages in commercial strategy process to identify macro and micro economic indicators, threats and opportunities, including capture insights, formulating strategic marketing agenda through the sub-Segment Plan and ensuring its execution through collaboration with regional sales & marketing teams.
- Produces content relating to value proposition and models business cases to support concept implementation. Works with marketing excellence, providing core content around value propositions and developing content for communication planning activities.
Job Requirements
- University degree in Chemistry, Marketing or another related field is preferred.
- 5-7+ years working experience in commercial environment, strong coatings industry experience globally, varied experience working with different product and services groups, experience in a variety of markets/segments.
- Experience in more than 1 area of sales & marketing.
- Background of working in Profit & Loss or with financial background an advantage as is work experience in a technical/RD&I role is an advantage.
Total Compensation
- The salary range for these skills is: $100,200 to $117,900 + 15% Annual Bonus
