Job Purpose

Following the introduction of High Solids Colorants (HSCs) there has been an increase in colour shade/formulation requests from the market. Along with this there are increasing demands internally to support new products and site conversions (internal and external (distributors)). This has resulted in an increase in regular routine administrational tasks and the coordination of customer requests. This job description outlines the need for a person with both technical and administrational skill to ensure that we continue to meet our service level agreement for shade/formulation requests.

Key Accountabilities

  • Participate and contribute in Health & Safety, Security and Environment activities (SAFE meetings, BBS Observer, HS&E training, Near Miss & AIRI reporting, Housekeeping, 5S, Recycling, Waste Management, Breaking down 5 Gallons drums into 1 Gallons, and Breaking down 1 Gallons to half-pint samples.
  • Support/Assist/Investigate New Product Introductions.
  • Maintaining Record Keeping Database for future reference.
  • Inventory Management – daily count of finished goods and lab supplies.
  • Formulate colors (shade requests) and provide colour support to both internal and external (distributor) sites, sales, and customer service.
  • Stewardship of lab tint equipment - weekly inspection (this includes cleaning and adding additional pigment to canisters) and monthly calibration of tint equipment.
  • Lab and operation support for short term projects.
  • Addressing Informal Complaints 8 hours (no more than 1 business day).
  • Providing presentation pieces for customers/sales. 
  • Achieving/Exceeding KPI Metrics/Goals including Customer Service Agreement Levels.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
     

Job Requirements

Working conditions will consist of a laboratory and plant environment that has the potential of exposure to hazardous chemicals, fumes and/or airborne particles. Physical requirements are standing for periods of time, sitting, working on a computer, walking, writing, kneeling, and crouching. On occasion lifting and/or moving objects (5 Gallon Drums and/or Color Tinting Equipment) up to 50 Lbs. or up to 100 Lbs. with assistance. The employee must have good vision, including peripheral vision and depth perception. The employee will regularly have to work around moving forklifts and coating factory equipment such as mixing equipment, pumps, filling equipment, etc. Appropriate Personal Protective equipment (PPE), such as lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and safety shoes will be provided to the employee and will be mandatory to wear in accordance with the department PPE hazard assessment. The employee will be responsible for ensuring the PPE is in working/operating condition.
