Supplier Development and Sustainability Manager

Job Purpose

  • The Regional Supplier Development and Sustainability (RSDS) Manager is a member of the regional procurement management team and has a coordinating role in the implementation of strategic improvement programs with AkzoNobel’s key suppliers. Primary objective is it to drive targeted supplier performance improvements in the areas of Quality, Delivery, Cost, Innovation and Sustainability (QDCIS)
  • The RSDS manager will propose optimization opportunities of the above with an End-to-End focus (including suppliers, Sourcing and Procurement, and Supply Chain / Manufacturing. The RSDS manager will work closely together with the supplier managers, Inbound Supply Chain Manager, Research and Development and Quality to create an overall improvement plan based on the set targets.  Will support them with expertise and guidance on processes and tools to implement improvements
  • Works together with the Project and Process Development Manager and Global Sustainability Manager to improve global QDCIS process design and define requirements and specifications for (improvements on) global reporting/monitoring
  • In the event of supply crisis with high potential impacts to the business, the RSDS manager may take the role of task force lead to properly coordinate communication, define mitigation plans and drive actions to closure
     

Key Accountabilities

  • Institutionalize AkzoNobel supplier development and sustainability processes and tools for the region
  • Use supplier performance monitoring to set targets, create improvement programs and coordinate execution
  • In the Global / Regional supplier business review meetings, present to the top levels in suppliers results and suggest improvement program between supplier and AkzoNobel. Will formalize and communicate agreed improvement program and track/drive progress
  • Support supplier managers to identify the need for and securing of service level agreements (SLA) with key suppliers 
  • Contributes in Supplier Audits) and follow-up on closure of findings
  • Support global trainings for supplier managers and suppliers related to QDCIS
  • Ensure the right collaboration with supplier managers, suppliers, planning teams, and manufacturing
  • Lead crisis task force with Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) in case of severe material shortages
  • Prepare and report on supplier improvement metrics to the relevant multifunctional groups and stakeholders to demonstrate impact of the supplier development process. Effectively communicate to internal and external groups, facilitating appropriate escalation
  • Work in accordance with and drives implementation of the globally defined processes and reports
     

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Supply Management, or related field or equivalent experience.  Master’s degree in related field preferred
  • 10 years’ experience in Global Procurement and Integrated Supply Chain in a global landscape gained through managing supplier improvement programs
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in applying continuous improvement tools such as Lean Six Sigma or willingness to be trained in Lean Six Sigma.  Effective change management skills
  • Basic knowledge of corporate sustainability and quality improvement programs.  Must be willing to learn towards an expert level
  • Ability to form strong teamwork-based relationships with internal customers, external partners and clients
  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with external business partners and internal stakeholders
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.  Familiar with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Intelligence Systems
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to include international travel
  • Fluent in English
