Job Purpose

Support the daily operation and maintenance of application equipment under the supervision of the application lab manager. Will work with defined standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

Key Accountabilities

  • Understand and follow written standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintaining and cleaning equipment.
  • Work directly with customers to assist with line trials, demonstrating equipment as needed. Accurately document data required to replicate trails, preparing reports after trial completion.
  • Ensure materials are properly labelled.  Will assist with the inventory of finished goods and materials.
  • Correctly label and mail samples.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and communicate with maintenance personnel to resolve  issues. 
  • Assist lab personnel with daily tasks that may involve driving a forklift. 
  • Conform with all site and laboratory safety requirements and policies, demonstrating safe practices and behaviors.  Will participate in AkzoNobel safety programs including audits and safety meetings.    

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  Associates of Science degree or technical certification in related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years' experience operating equipment in the coatings industry or chemical manufacturing.  Experience troubleshooting/maintaining equipment and operating a forklift is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with customers.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and sit on a regular basis and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tool, or controls.  
  • Ability to lift objects up to 40 pounds.  
  • Ability to wear a variety of personal protective equipment including safety glasses, safety shoes, chemical resistant gloves, laboratory coat, and/or positive and negative pressure respirators.  
  • Possess specific vision abilities to include close vision and color vision. 

Total Compensation

This position will be paid at an hourly rate with eligibility for overtime.  This position is also eligible for an annual bonus and employee benefits that are effective the first day of employment.
