Job Purpose

This role will coordinate, distribute, assign and oversee Quality Control work for the day while ensuring all safety procedures are followed. Ensure laboratory rules and procedures are followed by technicians by modeling expected behavior, communicating with Quality Supervisor, answering technician questions, problem solving, and communicating between supply chain and RDI.  Following established procedures and guidelines, test and conduct routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished product, using variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate test methods for repeatability
• Update/create standard operating procedures and quality control methods
• Create calibration test plans
• Maintain and improve training curriculum
• Work is planned out and assigned to employees
• Delegate employees to other positions as needed to ensure batches and essential jobs are completed. This is completed while following safety procedures and monitoring the safety actions of subordinates.
• Ensure batch tickets and control cards are inspected and documented correctly with adds, results, and initials. The data should be complete and written legibly
• Ensure escalation policy is followed for problem batches and control card questions
• Collect and compile all employees work data for the week and turn in all other tracking documents
• Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure product’s physical or chemical characteristics. Tests include, but are not limited to, viscosity, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, color characteristics (compared with standards), and various other similar tests.
• Maintain and calibrate test equipment
• Maintain records and charts for all products that are checked by the individual.
• Work with the QC manager, production staff, and development staff to evaluate production or field related problems
• Help identify potential causes of complaints
• Perform area housekeeping responsibilities
• Ensure all work areas are clean at the end of the shift

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or science related field
• Technical capability, experience in ISO laboratory or with good laboratory practices
• Microsoft Office skills required (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Excel skill level intermediate to advance

• Ability to read, comprehend and follow safety instructions and safety guidelines
• Must be able to score a 32 or lower on a Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Color test
• Must have effective interpersonal skills

• Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment with exposure to chemical agents

• Operation Monitoring- Ability to watch gauges, dials, or display screens to ensure proper operation of equipment

• Technical capability, experience in ISO laboratory or with good laboratory practices
