Job Purpose

The Project Engineer will lead projects and initiatives in line with site and business needs, tracking all stages to deliver on production, quality, health/safety/environmental, and cost targets. Projects and initiatives include 
capital, strategic, expense; and site, business, or company-wide engineering, HSE, or other unique requisites.

Key Responsibilities

▪ Participates in project initiation to develop a needs or business case and obtain a high-level overview of project objectives from the project originator.
▪ Contributes or leads project planning, refining the project charter, creating work scope and request for quote/bid documentation, obtaining and tabulating cost estimates, developing engineering and 
  execution/construction timelines, and obtaining buy-in from stakeholders on project/initiative progression.
▪ Oversees execution/construction and commissioning, coordinating with external resources and internal labor and production schedules. Is the first point of contact for outside vendors and 
  contractors. Has an in-the-field presence to supervise key aspects of execution and commissioning as needed and reports back issues or deviations from plan to site stakeholders.
▪ Co-leads development of maintenance plans/equipment maintenance strategies, spare parts decisions, training, procedure creation, and ensures project is not closed until documentation is complete.
▪ Leads handoff, ensuring all relevant documentation such as manuals, procedures, drawings, and studies are completed and correctly digitally filed, with copies given to relevant parties for frequent 
  use as needed.
▪ Occasionally takes ownership past handoff, overseeing day-to-day operation and ensuring project goals continue to be achieved for up to several months. Trains team members to take ownership
  and continues to support development during extended handoff activities.
▪ Interfaces with other functions such as R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Engineering at other sites as it relates to owned projects and initiatives.
▪ Provides expertise for onsite operations and maintenance groups related to owned projects and initiatives.

Level of Autonomy

▪ Ability to make decisions and answer questions on behalf of the site regarding assigned projects and initiatives. Will decide which information/decisions need brought to the attention of others.
▪ Ability to interface with all organization levels for stakeholder buy-in and to ensure continued relationship building through communication.
▪ Minimal to Moderate guidance required from Engineering Manager.

Job Requirements

▪ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline or 3-5 years project management experience and 3-5 years manufacturing support in a paint or chemical factory.
▪ Experience in the operation and maintenance of process equipment such as reactors, pressurized and atmospheric tanks, condensers, heat exchangers, evaporators, agitators, and pumps 
▪ Experience with safe work permit (PTW), management of change (MOC), and OSHA PSM requirements
▪ Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb in a manufacturing environment wearing appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes)
▪ Strong Microsoft Office, Power BI, and SharePoint skills.
▪ Experience with PLC and DCS control systems, especially ABB
▪ Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, across multiple organizational levels

Benefits/Rewards

The salary range for these skills is:  $89,000 to $99,000.  This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
