Job Purpose
Are you passionate about developing cutting-edge products and technologies that make a real difference in the world? Our Chemist role exists to drive innovation and maintain excellence in our product offerings. As a key member of our Research and Development team, you'll be tasked with evaluating, selecting, and applying scientific techniques to create new products and enhance existing ones. Under the guidance of our Group Leader, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring new ideas to life and contribute to our mission of delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and Development: Complete assigned tasks related to the research and development of new products, technologies, and product updates, utilizing designated materials and methods.
- Technical Expertise: Oversee technical workstreams, including new product introduction, product testing, raw material changes, and root cause analysis.
- Process Improvement: Implement, troubleshoot, and continuously improve plant processes to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Production, RD&I, CI, HSE&S, and other teams to develop processes and define safe and efficient operating procedures.
- Planning and Prioritization: Plan and schedule short-term activities and assignments, ensuring tasks are completed according to established plans and priorities.
- Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and support to Production, Sales, and Marketing teams to facilitate product scale-up, quality control, and application testing.
- Problem Resolution: Investigate production problems and customer complaints, determining corrective actions and initiating the reformulation process when needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed technical records and provide progress reports, monthly summaries, and technical plans to ensure effective communication.
- Quality Control: Review and update quality control documents and procedures, performing audits to ensure compliance with standards.
- Professional Networking: Maintain and develop professional contacts with company personnel, vendors, and customers.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure a safe and clean work environment in adherence to company safety rules and regulations.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
2-4 years of relevant experience, preferably in the paint and coating industry.
Strong knowledge of materials, products, and technologies used in the assigned project or laboratory group.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret instructions and propose effective solutions.
Proficiency in data organization, interpretation, and report writing.
Basic understanding of algebra, basic statistics, and computer spreadsheet calculations.
Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with Optiva and SAP is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for prolonged periods. Capability to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Willingness to wear necessary personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, chemical-resistant gloves, laboratory coats, and respirators.

Travel Requirement: Less than 25%
Compensation and Benefiits
- Annual Salary: $70,000 to $83,000
- Annual Bonus: 5%
This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
