The business is seeking an experienced Technical Service Representative to join the International Paint Marine and Protective Coatings Australasia team. This role is to be in Henderson, WA reporting to our Technical Services Manager – ANZ.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform Inspection and Infield support to Marine vessel new construction, dry docking and major refurbishment projects, Protective Coating new construction and maintenance projects
- Witnessing reporting on surface preparation, coatings application and inspection activities specific to the Marine and Protective Coatings industries
- Maintaining high-level confidentiality and credibility along with relevant security passes for governmental projects
- Deliver product and application training, including support on coating systems and best practice classroom and site-based
- Complaint investigations including inspections and technical reporting
- Provide site-based coating and corrosion surveys using proprietary programs
- Technical support of products, systems, methods and solutions to applicators and clients
- Attend and work within docks, hardstand, facilities and associated environments, onboard marine vessels, bridges, tunnels, high-value infrastructure buildings, mines, offshore facilities, processing plants, water and waste-water infrastructure and further sites and industries
- A suitable level of fitness, including the ability to swim, climb ladders and operate at heights and in confined spaces are inherent requirement of the role
Requirements
- Must hold a NACE 2 certification to complete applications and inspections
- 3 years experience in the Marine and or Protective Industry, or similar relevant coatings industry
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science – would be highly regarded
- A good understanding of coatings and the mitigation of corrosion
- Marine Antifouling technologies, Marine Class societies, Dry Docking procedures, New Building procedures, coating efficacy inspection and reporting (such as antifouls)
- Must have a high-level customer focus and ability to cope with several priorities concurrently
- Ability to deal appropriately and diplomatically with stakeholders at all levels and disciplines
- Team-orientation
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, negotiating/Influencing skills
- Detail-minded and organisational skills, problem-solving skills
- Ability to exhibit commercial confidentiality
- Reporting and literacy skills, including high-level computer and applications literacy
- Ability to undertake and pass Australian security and police checks as required for employment and access to customer sites.
