Key Objectives/Principal Accountabilities

  • Supporting roll out of World class Supply Chain Strategic Priorities: 2021-2023
  • Which includes: Control Tower, Buffering Strategy, Robust & Resilient supply networks, E2E footprint optimisation, Integration of Archetypes & IPM, Complaint Mgt, Segmentation & SLA Adherences, 4PL, Logistics reporting & Analytics, Track & Trace Capabilities
  • Develop model depots from HSE&S and capability perspective and laterally deploy “Model Depot “concept to all the depots.
  • Devise HSE&S improvement program (incl Driver training/ Fleet compliance) & WH focus
  • Drive Logistics Efficiency improvement through plant dispatch team via implementation of standard loading practises, Vehicle utilisation standards and business partnering with local transport service providers.
  • Network Design and Review (regular basis) & new Digital/AI/ML introduction in logistics arena
  • Drive New logistics transformation initiatives (LTIs) : including “Cost to Serve” model, TMS, WMS for optimised service at lower cost
  • ANT & Value creation/VC drive & Process improvement (incl. SOP updation, roll-outs and depot staff training & logistics executive upskilling)
  • Lead Benchmarking initiative: costs and best practices. Implement recommendations.
  • Devise HSE&S improvement program, Devise and Drive initiative for cost control
  • Vendor Identification, Evaluation, Defining terms of agreement, Negotiations
  • Monitoring performance, Vendor feedback, KPI drive,
  • Management of Primary & Secondary transportation’s contract, deliverables and vendor development, WH footprint optimisation
  • Tertiary transport: Dynamic Route Planning, and truck utilization improvement
  • Ensure Logistics support for speed to market for promotions, New products (cross function influence) & responsible to drive all statutory & various audits in region & Sites
  • Drive & implement critical logistics projects at Pan India level incl: True North
  • Coordinate for SAP country Impex activity, support control tower stabilisation

Functional Responsibilities

  • Evolve Org structure for depots, and continuously monitor skill gap / training needs
  • Prepare strategy for “tailored logistics” for different customer segments/ seasons.
  • Make better use of Supply Chain IT options (prepare case if solution not available already)
  • Strict and quick action on SLOB, cholesterol inventory
  • Partner with HR to conduct Fit gap analysis and develop training & development programs for RLMs, RLEs & RLO’s/Executives for the next role
  • Planning for our season/ agricultural season
  • Compliance to inviolable controls
  • Drive Deco Capability Road Map – Logistics assessment and ALPS improvement in depots

 

Job Context (the Nature & Scope of the Business)

 

  • Logistics & Transport operations Manager generates growth and profitability opportunities for both customers and AkzoNobel by working with their counterpart(s) to reduce cost, improve customer service and implement process innovation.
  • Ensures that collaborative Supply Chain initiatives are agreed, developed and executed with excellence.
  • Will lead business execution of new programs and initiatives including but not limited to: promotional activities, new product launches, product flow planning, and network changes/redesigns.
  • Will play a key role in logistics strategy forming for distributors and direct retail initiatives.
  • Will lead the depot staff training and incentive programs & working to groom logistics pipeline
  • Links Supply Chain to Production and Depots to customers. He is responsible for ensuring that FGs are moved as planned in the shortest transit times at lowest cost and with least SLOBs.
  • As part of his transportation responsibilities, he specializes in optimizing the costs and transit time to and from various locations.
  • Would be planning for new locations, and motivating transport team to improve the secondary/primary transportation program. He will work closely with carriers and interdepartmental groups to improve the transportation performance while maintaining low transportation costs.
  • Will identify non regulatory and regulatory restrictions to efficient delivery; and develop solutions for the same
  • Will be responsible for training Depot team, and other transport users on all operations interfacing SOP’s (e.g. Store receiving SOP’s, Driver Training Manual, etc.)
  • Will critically evaluate the current usage (or non-usage) of Courier, air freight, train and part-load transport.
  • Will partner with RLM to review SLA’s and identify opportunities for improvement in tertiary freight.
  • Will devise (along with vendors) a mechanism for improved shipment tracking.
