£21,000 - £22,500 per annum depending on experience & benefits

Development Chemist Apprentice – Introduction 
If you have a qualification in Chemistry, such as an A level or HNC, this is an incredible opportunity to launch your career in a business that is a world expert in making coatings. Operating in over 150 countries, AkzoNobel is home to well-known brands, such as the UK’s favourite Dulux paint, and has been awarded Top Employer status in the UK & Europe. We are now recruiting a Development Chemist Apprentice to join our European Solutions team based in our Marine, Protective and Yacht Business Unit and provide R&D technical support to the business. 

 

You will also complete a part-time BSc hons in Chemistry at Bradford University. To support your learning, you will receive day release and tuition fees will be paid by the business too.

 

Development Chemist Apprentice – The Role
•    Support activities on a range of projects
•    Assist in bringing new coatings products to manufacture for the first time 
•    Test existing products and coating systems to solve quality or production problems 
•    Contribute to development projects 
•    Help to develop our fundamental understanding of new coating technologies
•    Plan & execute experiments to agreed timescales as well as interpret and report results
•    Ensure materials are stocked & your projects completed to deadline
•    Work safely & in-line with company & legal regulations

 

Development Chemist Apprentice – About You
•    Committed to completing a BSc in Chemistry
•    Has the required entry level qualifications (A Level or HNC in Chemistry
•    Comfortable multitasking
•    Good at following set processes & operating safely
•    Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
•    Enjoys a collaborative working environment where supporting colleagues is key
•    Curiosity to question & a willingness to learn
•    Experience of working in a laboratory would be an advantage
