Now you can join our R&D team in Felling and support the development and commercialisation of key polymer technologies.

 

As a Polymer Scale-up Technologist you will be responsible for supporting the commercial realization of new polymer innovations emerging from R&D at pilot plant and full production scale. This is a diverse role, involving a broad mix of practical laboratory work, operation of pilot plant equipment, engineering project management and collaboration with commercial and technical teams across our business.

 

In AkzoNobel we are passionate about our products and processes and have a strong continuous improvement mindset. Alongside scale-up projects, you will often be required to build process technology proposals and manage projects from conceptual stage to finished designs. This will involve developing project documentation taking account of internal standards and regulatory requirements as well as making sure that projects are technically sound.

 

You will collaborate with colleagues across R&D, engineering and manufacturing functions to influence new scale-up projects and deploy our innovations, ensuring deliverables are achievable. We expect you to continually enhance your technical capability and know-how in resin processing and chemistry, and are well-positioned to support your development through internal technology networks and external academic partnerships. There is capacity to develop the role, and the ability to coach and support junior colleagues both in academic progress and professional development will be important.

 

As you would expect, the standard of work and technological development is high, so you must have a first degree in Chemical Engineering and postgraduate experience in an engineering or process technology role. This will have given you expertise in managing small technical projects or developing and organising technical / design information. You will also be an effective mentor and coach. Good at meeting deadlines, you will possess strong MS Office, interpersonal and communication skills. Able to the build relationships and solve problems, you will enjoy being part of a team and understand the importance of working safely.

 

Knowledge of polymer chemistry is highly desirable, and priorexperience of industrial polymer processing would be a distinct advantage.
