Job Purpose
The Technical Service Representative will contribute to the execution and profitability targets established by the MPY Business within the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. He/She will be required to be proactive and professional in delivering high quality technical support and training to internal and external customers.
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver training to customers on the use and application of the company products, equipment and documentation both on-site at the customer’s location and in AkzoNobel customer training facilities across the EMEA region.
- Conduct demonstrations of products and transfer the knowledge on AkzoNobel processes as well as on technical problem solving to both internal and external customers.
- Perform product testing for internal & external customers.
- Perform technical audits at designated customers across the EMEA region.
- Proactively prevent and solve problems of a technical nature occurring at existing customers across the EMEA region.
- Conduct and/or assist in the testing process as well as in the implementation of new products and technologies.
- Synchronize with the sales department in handling complex technical issues and in educating customers on solutions.
- Help to support product development with prototype selection advice and test market execution. Maintain allocated technical company equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Assist commercial department in the implementation of sales strategies and within key phases of the sales process, giving technical expert knowledge to their prospects across the region.
- Promote the positive company image and develop long-term relationships with customers.
Experience
- 10+ years of technical and application experience in the paints and coatings industry
- Minimum NACE Level 2 certification (or equivalent) required
- High school education required
- Hands-on paint product application experience
- Experience and knowledge in the operation of Epoxy PFP spray equipment
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interface with customers and all levels within the organizational structure
- Willingness to travel internationally and domestically to support EMEA business
- Proficient with laptop use; competent in Outlook and other Microsoft Office applications
- Sufficient computer literacy to use AkzoNobel in-house systems
- Fluency in English required; additional local languages are an advantage
- Valid driving license required
