Job Purpose

  • Prioritize & complete customer & internal lab work requests. 
  • Conduct & evaluate performance of formulations.
  • Oversee development of product formulations & raw materials.
  • Analysis root cause of customer complaint & give quick solution.  
  • Maintain accurate results & records of all completed lab work.
  • Review, interpret & report on accelerated weathering data.
  • Prepare reports/presentations for colleagues/customers.
  • Support new product development initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of housekeeping & health & safety standards.
  • Work safely & comply with legal & company regulations

Key Accountabilities

  • The R&D Specialist supports the goals of the business as directed by team lead or manager.   This position will oversee the work in Middle East Coil laboratories such as new product introduction, raw material changes, product testing, and root cause analysis.
  • R&D Specialist performs each essential duty safely, satisfactorily and in a timely manner. 
  • Manage the assigned Lab Work Requests (LWR) to include timeline and planning on a weekly to monthly timescale.
  • Modify formulations based on customer application conditions to achieve the desired application performance and film properties.
  • Design test methods to replicate end use along with determining a root cause of product field performance problems.
  • Participate and/or contribute expertise with cross-functional team like sales, technical service, planning, customer service, production, and Quality.
  • Summarize testing results and recommend next steps for formula changes or development through Scale up process.
  • Comply with site policy and safety standards and extend support to achieve site KPIs related to laboratory (RFT, ApB reduction, RM/FG revalidations SLOB reduction)
  • Prepare detailed lab reports for presentation to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyse and resolve work issues/concerns and assist co-workers and team members with problem solving.
  • Travel as needed for product trial run and/or customer support.

Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (M.Sc Chemistry will be preferred)
  • Excellent background in Chemistry/Polymers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English
  • Available to travel as necessary
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
