Job Purpose

 

Process Optimization: Monitor and assess processes within the production plant to improve efficiency and enhance product consistency.

Technical Expertise: Serve as the on-site expert in chemistry and paint technology, supporting the factory with product development, training staff, conducting risk analysis, and maintaining quality control documentation.

Revalidation:

  • Drive and meet RM / FG revalidation Task on time
  • Control of BOM's and update SAP as per business requirements 
  • Support the business in controlling rework and SLOB 

Key Accountabilities

 

New Product Introduction:
•    New products are introduced together with RD&I. Current products are maintained and improved together with Solutions Lab. 
•    Ensure continuous improvement of product quality by reducing batch-to-batch variations.
•    Customer complaints are investigated in cooperation with technical specialists and market complaints.
•    Testing/support of existing technologies, products and processes 
•    Developing fundamental understanding of key coating and technology attributes.
•    Design, develop, carry-out, evaluate & interpret experiments under own direction based on advanced knowledge and previous experience 
•    Effectively analyses data and patterns to generate conclusions and recommendations within agreed timescales using appropriate methods.
•    RFT involvement regarding final decisions. 
•    Plan, conduct and evaluate trials (e, g. application, production processes, equipment) as required.


Process Optimization:
•    Evaluate and optimise the manufacturing process, considering both production and quality parameters.
•    Contribute to the development of process equipment and production methods to secure a stable manufacturing process.
•    Focus on long-term product improvements rather than daily operational issues.
•    Collaborate with R&D to implement their expertise into daily operations and production processes.


Technical Expertise:
•    Act as the on-site expert in chemistry/paint technology, providing guidance on raw materials and product technology.
•    Support the factory and its quality department in matters related to product chemistry and process-related challenges.
•    Train operators and production staff in paint manufacturing, with an emphasis on raw materials, process parameters, and quality assurance.
•    Participate in risk analysis activities (e.g. FMEA) for production changes and the introduction of new products to the factory.
•    Create and maintain process control documents and other quality management documentation.
•    Support the Laboratory engineering with investigation of problematic batches and products when needed.

 

SLOB & Revalidation: 
•    Work on various projects related to SLOB Consumption by reworking / revalidation.
•    Raw material and Finish Good Revalidation.
•    Identify and drive initiatives to improve production workflows.


Maintains a safe working environment e.g. member of 5S team, supports H&S engagement audits, supporting BBS processes
 

Experience

 

Master’s or MSc degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Typically, >5 years’ experience or equivalent relevant experience 


Technical Competencies
•    In-depth knowledge of paint and coatings chemistry, including raw materials, binders, pigments, and additives.
•    Experience in manufacturing processes for coatings, dispersion, and mixing techniques.
•    Experience with FMEA, process control, and systematic problem-solving.


Communication and Collaboration
•    Strong communication skills, both internally within the factory and externally with R&D and third-party manufacturers.
•    Ability to educate and guide operators and production staff.
•    Fluent in English, both written and spoken.


Other Requirements
•    Experience in risk analysis, quality management, and process documentation is desirable.
•    Familiarity with working in an industrial environment with high safety and regulatory requirements.
•    Self-driven and proactive, with an analytical and problem-solving approach.
