Position Summary:

The Team Leader Color S will manage R&D activities and day-to-day operations by supervising and management of a team. Develop and implement an operational plan and objectives for the team within corporate guidelines, plans, and policies within own unit. Manages the execution of the year plan in own team, safeguards planning and budget of activities in own team and provides input to the development of the year plan. Plans and organizes the activities including well-defined goals and milestones and requires resources. Discusses priorities of activities and appropriate level of staffing with management. Supports projects from R&D, Supply chain, and/or marketing by providing specific scientific input. Responsible for the development of the team in the relevant scientific discipline. Lead and delegate the work (Complaints, tech batches LWR, and projects) within the color Solutions team, according to the prioritization. Work closely with sales, marketing, and ISC for prioritization of color matches, panel standards, and other LWRs. All projects should be well-defined with a clear product brief and delivery date.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Technical workstream deliverables within own projects defined and prioritized by the Technical Manager.
  • Embed Stage-Gate model within the team
  • Establish clear project definitions, value, risk assessments and assign milestones within own development projects and schedule regular review meetings with the commercial teams and other neighboring functions of concern.
  • Ensure the team delivers results of high quality and keep clear documentation of the Technical workstream deliverables.
  • Responsible for experimental products within own projects.
  • Read and monitor relevant literature like patents, scientific articles, etc. Responsibility to inform and alerting possible patent infringements.
  • Willingly share and expand own knowledge to support the Technical community.
  • Responsible for the working environment of the S Color team, according to Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
  • Support Technical managers with guidance in product development and risk assessment to develop a healthy innovation funnel/pipeline. 
  • Follow industry trends and work with suppliers and other AN teams to develop breakthrough innovation
  • Develop good customer relationships and deliver new insights that lead to product innovation.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with all Technical teams globally and their neighboring functions

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A degree within chemistry, preferably Master of Science. Relevant areas are chemical engineering, Polymer chemistry, Physical chemistry, metal and or similar.
  • 5 years of practical experience of product development work.
  • The position requires good skills in English, and strong communication skills – ability to communicate within the  technical  team and with stakeholders.
    • Can prepare presentations and reports for senior management across more than one function at an appropriate level of technical detail.
    • Can simplify and teach complex technical concepts to junior chemists.
  • Documented Project management skills.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and able to work easily with cross-functional groups (sales, marketing, supply chain) 
  • Be a role model of safe work environment practices 
  • Adaptive communication style to different levels of the organization, from technician to Director 
  • Ability to deal with and work in environment with high level of ambiguity 
  • Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment
