The R&D Technician will produce standards by using standard laboratory procedures to ensure that materials meet specifications and color quality is maintained throughout the supply chain. The individual will use visual and digital image analysis and can interpret color difference, understands color theory/colorimetry, and properties of pigments. This position may be asked to aid co-workers in investigating and resolving color problems.
 

Key Accountabilities

  • Conform with all site and laboratory safety requirements and policies
  • Support lab work requests, directed by the Commercial Services Manager
  • Provide technical assistance and support to Production, Sales, and Marketing, as required
  • Maintains detailed technical records, as required, in the form of a Standards History or computer database.
  • Support Laboratory 6 Sigma, 5S and Process management efforts when required

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Physical or Biological Science with 3+ years’ work experience in chemistry or coatings industry
  • Basic formulating knowledge in coatings with hands-on color matching / color correction experience.
  • Must be able to interface well with customers and be proficient in MS Office applications.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required 
  • Solid computer skills including working with web-based applications, such as our laboratory work request system, and with a wide variety of software such as the MS Office Suite data analysis software.
