Job Purpose

Coordinate the collection of random samples from production batches. Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes to measure product’s physical characteristics. Use highly sophisticated and precise testing instruments and computerized record keeping.

Key Responsibilities

•    Perform all QC and QA test procedures as specified for each product.  Tests include, but are not limited to, viscosity, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, color characteristics (compared with standards), and various other similar tests as specified for each product
•    Tint batches without assistance
•    Calculate resin composition
•    Enter complete and accurate documentation of results in SAP
•    Prepare and record customer submissions
•    Maintain appropriate levels of housekeeping and 5S organization in the lab 
•    Meet or exceed agreed upon and established goals
•    Peform equipment calibration and testing procedures as assigned
•    Must follow all established safety rules and procedures
•    Participate in the Safety Journey. Adhere to the Golden Principle which is   Simply to intervene to stop work if conditions or behaviour are unsafe. 
•    Promotes health, safety and environmental regulations by ensuring that standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.
•    Performs other duties as required for the success of Akzo Nobel

Job Requirements

Education:
•    High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
•    Previous manufacturing environment preferred
•    Previous customer service experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•    Knowledge of Excel, Word and SAPs
•    Demonstrate ability to perform at this level within six months
•    Ability to read, comprehend and follow safety instructions and safety guidelines
•    Knowledge in mathematics – basic math including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, fractions and measurements
•    Organization and time management skills
•    Customer service skills
•    Must be able to move to all areas of the operation with the ability to stand for extended periods of time
•    Must be able to lift 25 lbs
•    Must be able to wear required protective clothing including but not limited to safety shoes, safety glasses, lab coat, safety gloves
•    Must be able to tolerate smell of chemicals used in the manufacturing and testing of our products
•    Must be able to work overtime as required
