Purpose of the Job:
The Regional Engineering Manager position is responsible for achieving leading performance in planning and execution of capital projects, maintenance and engineering activities through the deployment of efficient processes, regional capex portfolio management, effective resource allocation, embedding safety, integration and adoption of standardized tools and engaging cross functional teams.

 

Job Description:

1. Support the Regional Manufacturing Director by managing the CAPEX projects portfolio of the region:
•    Support the factories masterplan Y+5 and articulate local initiatives into a yearly regional plan Y+5, reflecting the ISC strategy, overall AkzoNobel ambitions and legal compliance needs
•    Governance of the capex portfolio in the regin 
•    Allocate resource to manage all projects>250k, internal (local SRE/SE or regional PM) or external (consultants),
•    Ensure accurate local and regional monthly reporting, notably through 6K report,
•    Support the disciplined evolutions of standards through project.

2.    Direct Manager of the Regional Project Managers, following the AkzoNobel practices and notably:
•    Ensure an effective team and individual communication, recognize and promote achievements.
•    Functionally coach reports with Front End project activities,
•    Embodies within his/her organization a collaborative and operation centric mindset,
•    Deal effectively with possible remote and international management.

3.    Functionally guides the SRE/SE & Engineering community networks of the region by:
•    Ensuring a periodic team and individual communication to share business information and functional best practice or challenges,
•    Coaching and supporting SRE in their role of Local Project Manager,
•    Regional Technical community succession/development plan owner.

4.    Point of contact of the regional Preferred Engineering company, manage the resources performance and future needs (workload, capabilities, locations) thanks to periodic review.

 

Job requirements:
 •    10+ years of experience in Operations & Capital Project/Portfolio Management. 
•    Has led more multiple major capex projects (>5m) involving multiple functions and multiple sites.
•    Proven experience of managing EPC(M) engineering partners across a range of projects 
•    Technical and scientific understanding (MEng level) in the areas of engineering
•    Demonstrated capability to lead and drive multi-disciplinary projects and multi-cultural teams with members having both direct and no direct accountability 
•    People Management Experience 
•    Excellent communicator, both in communication with specialists and with main stakeholders
•    Stress resistance, flexible, problem solving attitude
•    Good in writing and speaking English 
•    Good understanding of external business trends to help drive internal strategies
•    Seen by others as credible, trustworthy and a promoter of new ideas
