Job Purpose

1. HSE policy - Keep up with in- and external developments, (co)develop HSE policies and objectives for the assigned focus area, and contribute to the development of the overall AkzoNobel HSE ambitions. 
2. Advice - Act as internal consultant, formulate and present possible solution directions for non-standard HSE questions not captured in procedures. 
3. HSE policy implementation - Keep up with in- and external developments, (co)develop an operational implementation plan for the assigned focus area and support line management in execution hereof. 
4. Optimization - Identify and evaluate HSE and risk issues and opportunities for HSE improvement, make suggestions for improvement and stimulate and support the organization in implementation hereof. 
5. Projects - Define, plan, manage and co-ordinate assigned (portfolio of) projects and ensure execution and delivery.
6. HSE systems and reporting - Develop, manage, implement and maintain HSE management systems and ensure the registration of HSE related activities. 
7. Stakeholder management - Build and maintain a network with in- and external HSE professionals and ensure transfer of HSE knowledge, requirements and best practices within the company. 
8. Knowledge management - Keep up with internal and external developments and ensure development, transfer and retention of HSE knowledge and best practices as well as ensure functional excellence. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute an improvement plan or contribute to the development of policy, procedures and guidelines across functions, in line with business needs, AkzoNobel (HSE) strategies and policies, relevant legislation and standards, in order to minimize HSE risks, maximize quality and achieve top quartile safety and operational eco-efficient performance.
  • Initiates, formulates and implements new processes and procedures for the functional discipline.
  • Able to explain and convince internal and external parties beyond content driven arguments and is able to appeal to interest, culture and level of others.
  • Creates and maintains significant networks, participates in (inter)national conferences and executes advocacy activities in favor of AkzoNobel and to ensure an optimal representation of the organization.
  • Professional with broad and/or extensive knowledge in own specialized field built on an understanding of the theoretical concepts and principles and their context.
  • Leads large (sub) projects across more disciplines, and defines scope of project

Experience

  • Education Qualification: Bachelor major in Chemical, Environment or Safety Engineering,
  • Project Experience (Change Management): Has led a major functional project across
  • People Management Experience: Has been a hierarchical manager to a team of at least 5 employees for at least 1 years (department), include security team management experience.
