Join Our Team as a Trade Centre Assistant in Cairns!
Are you someone who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service? We’re looking for a permanent full-time Trade Centre Assistant to join our Cairns team and help keep our warehouse and customer operations running smoothly.
In this dynamic role, you’ll play a key part in supporting our customers and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of our Trade Centre. From managing stock and tinting paint to assisting with deliveries and documentation, your attention to detail and commitment to service excellence will help uphold AkzoNobel’s reputation for quality and reliability.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Support daily Trade Centre operations by assisting with everything from customer service to stock handling, ensuring the centre runs smoothly and efficiently throughout the day.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by responding promptly to inquiries, processing orders accurately, and maintaining a friendly, solutions-focused approach—whether you're helping a walk-in customer or coordinating a delivery.
- Pick, tint, and dispatch paint and coating products with precision, ensuring each order is fulfilled correctly and on time. This includes mixing colours to exact specifications and preparing goods for transport.
- Load and unload vehicles safely using a forklift or manual handling techniques, making sure all incoming and outgoing stock is handled with care to prevent damage or delays.
- Receive and replenish stock by checking deliveries against documentation, unpacking goods, and shelving items in their correct locations to maintain an organized and efficient warehouse layout.
- Generate and manage documentation such as ROSAs, delivery dockets, consignment notes, and Dangerous Goods paperwork, ensuring all records are accurate and compliant with company and regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular stocktakes and cycle counts, helping to maintain inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies early. You’ll also assist in preparing reports and statistics for the Trade Centre Manager.
- Operate SAP and other warehouse systems to process transactions, track inventory, and support purchasing, dispatch, and invoicing activities.
- Step up in the absence of the Trade Centre Manager, taking ownership of daily operations and liaising with sales personnel or other departments when issues arise outside your area of expertise.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies, suggesting process enhancements, and helping implement safety and 5S housekeeping plans.
- Communicate with suppliers and logistics partners to coordinate deliveries, resolve issues, and ensure timely stock replenishment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment by following all health, safety, and environmental protocols, including immediate response to spills and routine equipment checks.
What You Need to Have:
- Previous experience in a warehouse or trade centre environment desirable.
- Strong focus on safety, with good physical fitness and a proactive attitude.
- A valid forklift license and experience operating a counterbalance forklift.
- Experience using CRM/ERP systems such as SAP or similar.
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a focus on customer satisfaction.
