Job Purpose
This developmental role is designed for a recent university graduate. Over a structured 24–36 month program, you will build technical expertise and commercial competencies through an initial Technical Service Representative (TSR) assignment, followed by progression into an entry-level Sales Representative role. You will support business growth by delivering agreed sales and profitability targets within an assigned territory while providing technical and customer support.

Territory & Travel: Primarily the Greater Vancouver area but will need to travel all over Canada and to the USA on occasion. Requires approximately 30% overnight travel.
Location: This position is classified as remote, with work performed from a home office rather than a standard AkzoNobel site. The ideal candidate will live in or close to the Greater Vancouver Area.
Total Compensation
- Base Salary: $70,000 – $80,000
- Bonus: 15% based on individual and corporate performance
- Vehicle Allowance: $800/month + mileage reimbursement
- Time Off: 3 weeks vacation, 5 personal/sick days, 3 floater days

Key Responsibilities
- Learn product technology, industry applications, and internal/external communication practices
- Participate in TSR training and temporarily support the TSR team to assist customers onsite
- Support commercial targets for small-to-medium accounts with growth potential
- Build relationships with customers, understand needs, and support account strategy execution
- Solve customer and product-related issues and participate in new product testing/implementation
- Conduct customer visits, product demonstrations, and training sessions
- Maintain accurate CRM and reporting data, including visit reports and action plans
- Monitor market trends and recommend improvements to sales approach
- Represent AkzoNobel professionally and promote a positive company reputation
- Ensure timely follow-up on customer inquiries and service requests
General Requirements
- Recent university graduate in Business, Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
- Ability to complete AMPP Basic Coating Inspector certification (training provided)
- Ability to perform physical aspects of TSR duties, including climbing and extended standing
- Ability to travel within Canada and occasionally to the United States (up to 30%)
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (required for Controlled Goods Clearance)
- Strong English communication and presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive, self-driven work style
- Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and multitasking capabilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM tools
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed and use required PPE at customer sites
Physical Requirements
This role involves working in industrial and marine environments. Candidates must be able to:
- Climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Perform tasks involving stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Handle, lift, and carry equipment and materials (up to 25kg).
- Maintain visual acuity, depth perception, and color recognition essential to inspection work.
