Good at following set processes and working safely, you have a degree in Chemistry or a related subject. Now you are looking to develop your interest in a technical career in a business that offers roles with breadth, depth of scope and impact. That business is AkzoNobel. Awarded Top Employer status, we are a company that forms successful partnerships with customers and now you can join the team in Birmingham and get involved in realising a range of new product development projects.

As a Development R&D Specialist you will work on the development of new coatings for the beer and beverage can market. Whatever project you are involved in you will need to plan, conduct and complete work to deadlines. You will also ensure all results are accurately recorded, make recommendations for next steps and communicate key results to colleagues across the organisation. You will build and maintain relationships with raw material suppliers, evaluating samples and providing feedback to partners in support of development projects too. Important will be the ability to maintain the highest safety standards in the lab and follow established procedures.

In addition to a degree in Chemistry or similar, you must be highly organised and eager to learn new skills and apply them to solve problems. You will have GCSE level passes, or equivalent, in Maths and English too. You have to be able to work co-operatively with people at all levels and able to work on your initiative when needed. Some experience of laboratory work would be an advantage and strong presentation, interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Good at handling multiple projects, you will also be able to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
