Technical Service Representative

In short

In the role of Technical Service Representative you provide a sound technical service to customers regarding quality and application of paint and ensure all parties understand and agree on the painting requirements.
 

The customer base is both civil and commercial, and includes applicators, asset owners, ship owners, ship operators, ship managers, marine consultants, shipyards, engineering contractors, coatings contractors and any other potential or existing customers.
 

You will join an enthusiastic team of Technical Service Representatives, who although working mostly independently, work together as a team, helping each other overcome challenges, and sharing their knowledge and experiences, ensuring every team member is equipped for job.

Key responsibilities

As the Technical Service Representative you:

  •  Advise on paint specification, provide recommendations for preparation and application and conduct inspections to ensure paint is applied in acceptable conditions and according to specification
  •  Provide technical advice and information on products as requested
  •  Liaise between International Paint, the Account Executive, the customer, clients representative and contractors
  •  Ensure all relevant documentation is available prior to meeting customers and starting projects
  •  Complete reports accurately and promptly, and keeping a daily logbook of all site and project details 
  •  Coach and train TSR colleagues as required
  •  Assist with product testing and trails as required
  •  Comply with technical service specific company HSE rules
  •  Represent the International Paint position in case of disputes and issue disclaimer letters when required
  •  Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner at all times

What do you bring?

We are looking for someone who ideally already has a good technical knowledge of protective (and Marine) products.
 

Experience
 You have experience in a technical service, or applicator supervisory/ QC environment, so this will at least your second position in such a role.
 

Knowledge/Skills (knowledge, languages, competencies, computer skills)

  •  You have an understanding of inspection skills and procedures
  •  Experience in the Coating industry, specifically methods of surface preparation, coating application
  •  Ability to pay attention to detail to ensure compliance and quality
  •  Ability to make decisions independently and organize own work
  •  Strong customer focus
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  •  Diplomatic, and able to resolve conflict by being fair and objective
  •  IT skills (Outlook/ Word/ Excel)
  •  Ability to communicate in English is essential

Education/Certificates/Licences/Registration preferable

  •  NACE or FROSIO qualified (level 2/3)
  •  Full EU driving licence

Working Conditions

  •  Hours can be unsociable to accommodate the needs and timings of customers
  •  The work is usually performed on customer sites with reports written in follow up
  •  Typically working throughout Benelux at various locations, however global travel may be required in order to fulfil the customers’ requirements
