Job Purpose


  • The purpose of this role is to develop, prepare, transfer/implement, maintain, execute and analyze color liquid product technology for Auto-wheel market segment in EMEA region in order to comply in a timely manner with new product & color t introduction programs to Regional customers by Business.
  • In line with the R&D and Business implement and lead projects to find solutions and adapt products and technologies to customer paint line application.
  • Provide production support and color development activities to Auto-Wheel Segment by also providing technical training at customer line application on the use and application of AkzoNobel liquid coatings for the automotive wheels market.

Key Accountabilities


The job expectations are to take decision regarding

  • New product/technologies and color development formulations that will result in commercial products for OEM customer parts.
  • Quality problems or complaints regarding AkzoNobel products and services.
  • Process improvement actions to help customer achieve production targets using AkzoNobel products.
  • Travel support decision based on needs and according to One Wheel team strategy.

Key Activities


  • Support color & product developing formulations programs according to formulation guidelines for liquid auto-wheel market.
  • Transfer and implement product liquid technologies and/or colors from other Region for EMEA Regional Auto-wheel market according to Business plans.
  • Investigate and improve paint performance between liquid and powder coatings together.
  • Color sample application according to standard operation procedures.
  • Provide on time and accurate information on the approved formulas into the data base.
  • Collaborate on projects for technology improvement and formulas optimization using DOE and statistical designs.
  • Co-responsible with OEM Colorist for product introduction at customer paint line, correlation and troubleshoot.
  • Provide technical support for AAR, paint sample, color adjustment and application adjustment at customer site.
  • Maintain and keep control of lab documents and LWR.
  • Provide liquid paint training for One-Wheel technical service team including powder technical service team.
  • Continuous improvement and maintenance for formulations developed.
  • Provide solutions to technical problems that can generated at customer paint line in collaboration with Paint, Technical Service and Quality departments.
  • Build a positive relationship with customer key positions supporting projects developments, plans and business strategy.
  • Attend customer meetings.
  • Teamwork with commercial, R&D and technical service team for supporting One-Wheel accounts.



  • Colorimetry and paint application, high knowledge.
  • Chemist R&D formulation expertise.
  • Customer troubleshooting expertise.
  • Proven expertise with liquid paint and customer processes, desired 3 years minimum.
  • Experience at different paint applicator systems for liquid paint.
  • Excellent communication and capable of developing customer confidence.
  • Availability to adapt to customer time schedule.
  • Travel required 0-50%
  • English skills.
  • Office.



Preferably Technical educational in relevant field, e.g. chemistry, chemical technology, etc.

  • Typically 6-9 years of relevant experience with Bachelor’s Degree, or
  • Typically 1-3 years of relevant experience with Master’s Degree, or
  • Typically 0-2 years of relevant experience with PhD
