Project Engineer

 

 

The main objectives for this role are:

  • Manages the Site Engineering projects, from early stages until completion, to deliver the agreed scope, within schedule and budget, meeting safety and quality requirements, and managing stakeholders’ expectations.
  • Delivers the site CapEx investment plan following the Site priorities and the AkzoNobel’s project delivery methodology.
  • Partners with contractors and suppliers to build a healthy network, following consistently AkzoNobel’s Procurement policies.
  • Follows and applies the global Engineering standards for processes and facilities designs.
  • Leads or participates in Hazard Studies and Periodic Hazard Reviews.
  • Provides input for process modifications and/or modifications of existing operations and develops business cases as appropriate.
  • Identifies opportunities and makes suggestions for improvements in Production processes.

 

About the role

 

  • Comply with the policy and the HSE&S regulations established in AkzoNobel (LSR - Life Saving Rules) and actively participate in the initiatives that are promoted in this area.
  • Define, prepare and execute projects, in line with business needs and project management methods and techniques, to deliver projects according to objectives.
  • Conduct conceptual design, development, cost estimation and time schedule to ensure proper definition.
  • Modify and optimize the existing production processes in accordance with HSE and operations guidelines (Asset Integrity Guideline’s and local regulatory requirements).
  • Continually engage with the Site operating teams at all levels to develop an understanding of the Site improvement needs and opportunities.
  • Contribute to the Site investment plan to ensure the manufacturing capacity is safe, reliable and sufficient based on expected demand.
  • Ensure safe delivery of projects through correct management of contractors and third parties.
  • Lead or participate in Hazard Studies for new developments, as well as in the Periodic Hazard Reviews for the existing processes.
  • Ensure functional excellence in local codes/standards, permitting, project management and construction management and contractor control.
  • Execute applicable AkzoNobel policies, guidelines, processes, methodologies, working methods and systems.
  • Drive knowledge management (sharing, maintaining, updating information and best practices) both internal and external to the site.
  • Effectively engage with key Site stakeholders (and other levels) to manage expectations on site (handover, training…).
  • Develop strong relationships at Site level and with local and national service suppliers.
  • Build and maintain a network within AkzoNobel within HSE, ISC, Engineering and Procurement.
  • Manage HSE Suite database for MOC’s, ensuring that all plant modifications are captured in the tool.

 

 

About You

 

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Process Engineering.
  • 2 years of experience as Project Engineer preferably in the Chemical industry. Experience in Process Engineering and Maintenance will also be appreciated.
  • Fluent in English .
  • Ability to read, understand and modify Engineering documents (diagrams, balances, models, plot plans, layouts, datasheets…).
  • Ability to use IT tools and software e.g. SAP and MS Office package.
  • Basic knowledge of Engineering software such as AutoCAD, MS Project or similar, Navis Works…
  • Ability to work autonomously as part of a diverse team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
  • Ability to communicate with employees at different levels in the same Business Unit.
