Job Purpose

 

The position is responsible for improving the quality and governance of packaging across the organization by defining and deploying standardized AkzoNobel Packaging Technology processes, supporting tools and developing packaging capabilities across the organization.

 

Lead the Design of AkzoNobel packaging technology processes, ensuring quality, efficiency, sustainability, and compliance with industry standards.

Ensure there are processes defined that cover the full lifecycle of primary and secondary packaging

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Define, agree and maintain standardized processes to be used for the specification, evaluation, validation and introduction of new packaging, as well as the ongoing quality assurance, specification optimization, harmonization and governance of the primary & secondary packaging portfolio
  • Ensure the processes and standards are fit for purpose and supported with the right tools to enable product managers and site teams to understand the selection, management and governance of packaging
  • Identify potential risks in packing processes and implement robust mitigation plans to ensure product integrity and regulatory compliance, including alignment with R&D and Product Management on the protocol for New Product Introduction and packaging changes – including appropriate gate approval process for packaging changes
  • Define maturity assessment criteria for processes to determine effectiveness and provide performance improvement roadmaps
  • Develops communication, training and SOP’s necessary for the effective implementation and use of processes
  • Drive continuous improvement of the processes through feedback and identifying process inefficiencies, problems and issues and partner with others to sustainable solutions to address process issues.
  • Coach and mentor the regional packing technology professionals in the application of the processes and standards, identifying training needs for Process Coaches / Key-users of the processes and monitors compliance to the global process.
  • Own the Packaging Master Data Management process and champion the wider deployment and own the governance of the process
  • Own and maintain the required document management libraries for the processes, standards, tools, packaging specifications and governance of these

Education & Experience

 

  • + 5 years of relevant packaging technology experience in a international setting
  • Recognized packaging technology qualification  
  • Experience with managing consumer and/or industrial packaging portfolios; defining specifications, functional requirements, product/packaging compatibility, design for manufacture and optimal distribution performance.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and structured approach
  • A data driven, continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical abilities.
  • Able to lead change in challenging times, effectively challenging the standard approaches where appropriate
  • Coaching and influencing skills in a matrix organization
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills 
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
