1. Purpose/Key Objectives of the Job
- Develops business priority solid colors and when skilled on that move further to MM effect colors & special effect colors within the ASC color global development team in Bangalore
- Approves colors for own colorist certification level color developer with support. Consults an advanced color development expert, senior color development expert or the group leader color ASC in case of doubts
- Supports to screen and evaluate pigments as per the LWR’s received and support the pigment strategy of ASC and global teams.

2. Key responsibilities
- Approved MM/NS/TR formula: Develops solid color formulas independently, and effects after approval of a senior color specialist. Develops with support the color formula with toners in the assortments and with special effect toners. Interprets intermediate results from color measurements, formula calculations and sprayed formula. Uses instrumental techniques and available software. Develop colors according set priorities and quantities. Determines effect pigments used in colors (microscopic evaluations). Owns formula requests from the database and puts approved formula in the database. Advises and/or matches colors for which other color matcher C (in the Bangalore department as well as other centers) are facing problems. Keeps up with the latest information concerning new pigments by consulting internal and external contacts. Support in toner gap analysis.
- Learns to develops all type of VR/CV/Aero colors (solids, effects , Special colors) within the ASC color global color development team in Bangalore. Respects and work according set priorities.
- Learns to develop the scripting activities for iColor design app under guidance
- Supports the spraying & measuring activities of CVTs, K/S estimations & Spray-out projects.
- Can work with all color FD related software tools. Ensures they’re calibrated and operated in the right way.
- Approve above mentioned color types by himself/herself and for others of the same level.
- Knows all processes and follows the guidelines for formula development.
- Keep MM pigment info and knowledge up to date.
- Quality: Is responsible for the correctness of the delivered formula (technical, visual and measured requirements), the use of calibrated tools. Works in accordance with HSE regulations. Calibrates tools in accordance with procedures. All development activities should be executed according the latest procedures and methods of the color Quality Manual. Takes responsibility for the quality/efficiency of the (internal) workflow, e.g. stocks monitoring of (non-)paint, timely calibration, priority setting of work packages.
- Works closely together with other R&D teams under supervision (product development, solutions, applications) to come to the required results for the customers.
- Handles all the non-FD responsibilities allotted thereby ensuring efficient running of the color development processes
- Support in doing Gap Analysis, Product Setup activities, Color Trends and training of colormatchers
- Follow 5S, BBS, safety rules. Ensures a safe work environment.
- Continuous improvement of department knowledge and efficiency.Participate in standardization and optimization of color processes and data.
For Pigment Screening
- Timely evaluation of pigments for ASC as per screening procedures. Plans the activities and ensures timely completion.
- Carries out the outdoor exposure of pigments and uploading the results in database.
- Lays down data from the experiments in lab notes and contributes to research reports.
- Executes various physical and analytical tests on the wet and dry paints and is capable of
interpreting the results.
- Co-ordinate closely with the associated teams for the correct functioning of the pigment databases.
- Maintains lab equipment’s connected to pigment screening activities
- Overlooks the requirement of raw materials for pigment evaluation activities.
- Chooses the most economic ways to use and apply raw materials and tries to minimize the amount of waste
- Contributes towards safe work environment by adhering to safe work practices in line with corporate HSE&S directives & guidelines in order to build work culture driven by safety consciousness.

3. Level of Autonomy
- Approve / Recommend to approve colors till his own level.
- Tell requesters for colors what colors can be matched with normal/NS toners and processes and what not.

- The pressure of getting more colors done in less time is always there. Rapidly changing priorities, workload.
- Color approval decision must ensure satisfied internal & external customers and helping them in their success story.

5. Job Requirements
- Color development experience is a pre requisite , Experience of 1 – 4 years
- Chemical background, B. E., B. Tech (Chemical) or M. Sc. (Chemistry)
- Should have cleared minimum Colorist Candidate A certification & above
- MBO working and thinking level/experience.
- Strong communication skills in English (speaking & writing).
- Color and color software knowledge of CFDT, CDMS and efficient usage of color measuring instruments like Bykmaci etc
- Pro-active, pragmatic hands on mentality, positive mentality with a strong drive for ownership and responsibility.
- Ability to work collaboratively and flexible as part of a team and independently when required.
- Able to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines.
- Good computer skills (MS Office, SAP, color software).
