Job Purpose

The senior consolidation expert has an important role in the AkzoNobel consolidation process and it the first responsible for the profit and loss on corporate level.

The senior consolidation experts play a key role in the consolidation process by:

  • Receiving and performing analytical review on the data from the regions (mainly with regard to P&L)
  • Taking responsibility for certain specification forms in the monthly/quarterly/Year-End closing
  • Supporting and interacting with Finance Operations and other parts of Finance organization in order to run a smooth consolidation process

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Runs activities needed to establish and maintain the consolidation process, from legal entity level to the Akzo Nobel corporate level, within the constraints of strict deadlines for actual reporting (month, quarter and year-end close);
  • Reviews and verifies the financial reliability and completeness of specifications at AkzoNobel level;
  • Participates in improvement projects within own area of responsibility;
  • Communicates and interacts with accounting functions in regions and those at corporate level as well as other relevant functions;
  • Various specific tasks will be applicable like:
    • Responsible for reporting Statement of Income at corporate level;
    • Reporting FX results;
    • Reporting of identified items and one-off items;
    • Functional cost reporting;
    • Responsible for restatement process;
    • Intercompany matching;
    • Reviewing specific regions and BU’s regarding accounting.

Experience

 

  • Master’s degree in economics, accounting or business administration;
  • Several years of experience in accounting positions;
  • High level of customer orientation, results orientation, change management, ownership and collaboration;
  • Understanding of accounting guidelines;
  • Knowledge of Financial reporting systems (preferably HFM and MerlinXL);
  • Highly analytical, with problem-solving and pragmatic skills;
  • Independent, self-starting and interested in what is behind the numbers;
  • Practical experience in driving process improvements;
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal skills;
  • Fluent in English, both verbal as well as in writing; good command of Dutch is an advantage;
  • Excel and PowerPoint skills.
