Job Purpose

The Reporting Expert reports to the Reporting Team Lead and is part of the reporting group, which is responsible for internal and external reporting. External reporting consists of preparation of the annual Financial Statements and quarterly reports. Internal reporting consists of monthly reporting to management and other stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities



  • Preparation of consolidated financial statements of Akzo Nobel N.V.;
  • Coordination and support of statutory reporting process;
  • Perform peer study of financial statements to increase accuracy and complete adherence to reporting requirements and learn from best practices;
  • Ad hoc analyses;
  • Assistance in reporting activities for pension accounting in hard-close and annual reporting;
  • Take part in departmental projects, drive continuous improvements;
  • Provides input for the review questions process based on financial analysis and review of submitted figures, follow-up on actions as agreed with regions and interact with focal points in order to receive reliable reporting;
  • Communicates and interacts with accounting functions in regions (Regional Accounting Center and (regional) accounting controllers) and those at corporate level as well as other relevant functions;
  • Responsibility for certain reporting forms in the monthly/quarterly/hard-close/annual closing.



  • Education: MSc Economics or similar, with a degree in accounting;
  • Experience: approx. 5 years corporate reporting and IFRS experience;
  • Fluent in English, both verbal as well as in writing;
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills;
  • The Code of Insider Trading is applicable to this job. The job requires observing high ethical standards;
  • Can work in exposed environment (corporate management);
  • Can balance reporting requirements (service attitude whilst challenging requests as well);
  • Can work with deadlines / under tough circumstances / with confidential information;
  • Gets the job done no matter what;
