Job Purpose


The register case manager directs the absence process on behalf of AkzoNobel and is the contact point for sick employees and their manager.

She/He also gives advice and ensures that all steps of the Gatekeeper Improvement Act are taken in time and provides contact between employees, company doctors and AkzoNobel. The register case manager’s role is also to translate the advice of the company doctor into concrete plans for the reintegration. So the case manager supports employer and employee in all steps. She/He can explain the consequences of certain choices and give advice in this respect.

Key Accountabilities


  • Supervision of absenteeism for +/- 2500 employees;
    • direct medical costs on average 50 million on an annual basis for ex. Replacement;
    • absence guidance, loss of production etc;
    • on average 200 files, of which 100 files> 6 weeks in a year.
  • Expected reduction in absence costs through timely correct actions;
  • Own-risk contributions for the Partially Disabled Workers Act (ERD WGA) for 10 years; Responsible for payment and reintegration of partially disabled employees;
  • Own risk of Sickness Benefits Act (ERD ZW): responsible during 104 weeks for payment and reintegration of ex-employees and if applicable transfer to ERD WGA;
  • Coordinate with the Payroll team to ensure accurate and timely payments to sick employees;
  • Coordinate with RCC Resource in the HR shared service center for administrative tasks;
  • Ensure compliance of RCC process with UWV regulations;
  • Be an active member of a professional association (RNVC/RCS) & Maintain education for registration.



  • Post HBO Regie op Verzuim (CROV/ ROV) / Register Case Management (RCM/ RCMC/Rccm);
  • Minimum of 4-6 years' experience as a registered case manager in HR (level 1 and level II), preferably in a large organization;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of social security, labor and employment legislation. In particular WIA legislation and labor law, own risk bearing WGA and Sickness Benefits Act, Regres;
  • Up-to-date substantive knowledge of HR policy and processes is required;
  • Dutch and English language skills (oral / written);
  • Social skills/competencies;
  • Good communicative and advisory skills, people-oriented, able to switch easily between different roles and levels, cross-organizational;
  • Internal communication with employees, supervisors, site managers, company doctors, lawyers;
  • External communication with UWV, employment experts, reintegration companies;
  • Empathy and organizational sensitivity, ability to identify employer and employee interests;
  • Able to work accurately and punctually;
  • Persuasive;
  • Creative in finding suitable solution.
