As Packing Technology Manager EMEA you will be(come) the authority in your field(s) of expertise within your region and support developing this space globally. 
You will thereto initiate and manage various programs as well setting future standards to fulfil business needs while reporting to the Global Packaging Technology Director

Key responsibilities

The Packing Technology Manager is member of a multidisciplinary team that tactically manages AkzoNobel’s key suppliers
You drive harmonization and standardization of the portfolio by defining AkzoNobel’s standards for our key packs
You will define, own, and manage the respective packaging portfolios working with key stakeholders in commercial, manufacturing, sourcing, and other relevant functions. Besides that, you ensure technical and functional requirements are appropriately considered and covered across the supply chain.
The Packaging Technology Manager develop’ s functional excellence for the relevant portfolios
You drive a packaging portfolio delivering on direct and indirect savings 
You will initiate and manage requisite tests and trials to ensure the quality throughout the value chain
You own adherence to and monitoring of compliance regulations and global packaging standards while keeping specifications up-to-date and contribute in managing packaging master data
Supporting the business in sustainability and innovation initiatives and track new developments in the market.

What do you bring?

  • A BSc/MSc degree or equivalent in the area of System/Packaging Science, Technical Engineering or Material Design
  • Relevant experience working in a packaging manager role in Manufacturing, R&D, Procurement/Sourcing or in the packaging industry
  • Experience with managing a packaging portfolio understanding specifications, functional requirements, product/packaging compatibility, manufacturing and logistics.
  • Experience with packaging quality management across the supply chain, root cause analysis and continuous improvement
  • Has good knowledge and experience in engineering disciplines (e.g. Chemical or Mechanical)
  • Work autonomously with ability to represent the packaging function in the region 
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and structured approach
  • Demonstrated strong stakeholder management skills
  • Project management capabilities
  • Team player, having worked in a multinational environment with sensitivity to different cultural behaviors
  • Working at a regional level willing to travel visiting sites, suppliers and markets
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in English
