In short (Purpose of the job)

Select & deliver best packaging solutions across the region and BU’s resulting in required product quality “fit

for purpose” ensuring standardization,service, sustainability and deliver savings throughout the supply chain. 

  • Drive harmonization and standardization of the portfolio by defining AkzoNobel standards for our key
  • packs,
  • Define, own and manage their respective packaging portfolio working with key stakeholders ie.
  • commercial, manufacturing, sourcing and other relevant functions. Ensure technical and functional
  • requirements are appropriately considered and covered across the supply chain.
  • Develop functional excellence for the relevant portfolio and implement these across the regions ie. define
  • specifications, standards, tests and trials, etc..
  • Drive sustainability in packaging to achieve the objectives of the organization
  • Ensure packaging supply and flexibility for key packs by developing dual supply options working with
  • Sourcing 
  • Contribute to the selection select and development of key suppliers to ensure they have the
  • capabilities,processes and organisation to properly serve the business
  • Ensure we adhere to global and local compliance regulations and global standards on packaging.
  • Drive for ,and deliver, direct and indirect savings on the packaging portfolio
  • Initiate and manage compatibility tests and packaging trials ensuring quality throughout the supply chain
  • Support the business in innovation initiatives and track new developments and innovation in the market
  • Initiate and lead packaging projects with a cross functional team
  • Understand relevant manufacturing capabilities and requirements for filling and packaging lines (incl.
  • decoration) as well as palletization and wrapping.
  • Provide 2nd line technical support with quality issues and prevent and/or limit impact on customers.
  • Support on decoration technology activities setting standards and drive best practices working with artwork
  • management, commercial, engineering and manufacturing. 
  • Manage packaging master data template for the relevant portfolio

Requirements

  • Technical engineering degree BSc/MSc or equivalent
  • Relevant experience working in a packaging manager role in Manufacturing, R&D, Procurement/Sourcing
  • or in the packaging industry
  • Experience with managing a packaging portfolio understanding specifications, functional requirements,
  • product/packaging compatibility, manufacturing and logistics.
  • Experience with packaging quality management across the supply chain, root cause analysis and
  • continuous improvement
  • Has good knowledge and experience in engineering disciplines (e.g. Chemical or Mechanical)
  • Work autonomously with ability to represent the packaging function in the region
  • Selfstarter with strong organizational skills and structured approach
  • Strong stakeholder management working with Suppliers, Marketing, Procurement, etc..
  • Project management .capabilities
  • Teamplayer, having worked in a multinational environment with sensitivity to different cultural behaviours
  • Working at a regional level willing to travel visiting sites, suppliers and markets
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in English
