Purpose of the job

Support the Investment Analyst, Innovation Director and Paint the Future lead in scouting and pre-assessing startup/scaleup opportunities that have a strategic innovation fit with AkzoNobel and potentially helps in addressing some or one of our defined challenges.

Key responsibilities

  • Identifying sources for pro-active scouting and sourcing
  • Doing searches and high level screenings
  • Preparing regular overviews of scouted opportunities
  • Bringing opportunities to the assessment stage and/or into the PTF funnel
  • Help further improve the venturing process and applied criteria set

Level of autonomy

  • Autonomy level is limited to doing initial high level sorting of found opportunities
  • Contacting targets will always be done in close alignment and/or together with the Investment Analyst, the Innovation Director or PTF lead
  • Internally you are encouraged to be pro-active and validate opportunities with colleagues in inside and outside R&D, but always in close alignment with the Investment Analyst


2nd or 3rd year University or Higher education preferably in:

  • Technology (e.g. chemistry, engineering, electronics,)
  • Business (e.g. finance, business administration, innovation, entrepreneurship)
