Job Purpose

The IT Control Manager is responsible for the Risk and Control Matrix (RCM) and safeguards the implementation of controls within the Information Management (IM) function, The IT Control Manager ensures that the IM function delivers on agreed commitments and agreed deliverables and makes sure IM becomes and remains “fit from within”. This function focusses on the effectiveness of controls in the internal IM function and doesn’t cover the compliancy of the IM services offered to the businesses. The IT Control Manager reports into the IM Compliance Manager within the CIO Office. The CIO Office is responsible for planning, driving and controlling the entire IT function to world class standards and policies regarding enterprise architecture as well as risk management, (information) security & compliance, project management, functional excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supports the definition and implementation of IM controls (incl. automation) as part of the IM Operating Model; 
  • Executes the required controls to mitigate IM risks; 
  • Responsible for maintaining (changes, improvements, etc.) the Risk and Control Matrix (RCM); 
  • Participates in the set-up and deployment of Enterprise Risk Management evaluation together with IM compliance Manager for internal IM;
  • Supports the definition and implementation of IM agreed performance indicators (incl. KPI’s) and goals in an integrated dashboard;
  • Supports the creation and maintenance of IM Rules, Procedures and Work Instructions;
  • Monitors, evaluates and benchmarks the overall performance of the IM function. This includes financial performance, process performance and service delivery performance;
  • Supports the control definition for projects and major changes;
  • Works closely with Functional Excellence to ensure the most critical IM processes are handled at the right time to stay fit from within; 
  • Aligns with IM GPO/GPA/GDPL on in-control and fit from within for the IM function.

Experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualifications or level of experience;
  • 5+ years of demonstrable experience with quality management, audits, compliance & risk management;
  • Experience with design, implement and monitoring of performance dashboards;
  • Experienced with collaborating with internal and external auditors and with building In-control statements;
  • Experience with delivering compliance projects; 
  • Understanding of the main functional, technological and architectural elements and requirements of Information Technology; 
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement (Lean Six Sigma) is preferred;
  • Good understanding of AkzoNobel business environment;
  • Understanding of Information Technology Strategy needs;
  • Understanding of Information Technology General Controls Audit processes and requirements;
  • Knowledge about the key topics relating to risks and controls.
