Job Purpose

The Global Manufacturing controller supports the Head of Manufacturing Finance in guiding and supporting the Global Manufacturing functions (Global HSE&S, Global Engineering including Global Packaging organization and Global Manufacturing Center of Excellence including Global Quality) as well as the overall Manufacturing organization (covering FMC spent of around EUR 900-950m).

Act as business partner for the Global Manufacturing functional leaders and work closely together with ISC FP&A to design and deploy meaningful and transparent regional as well as BU management reporting packages.

Responsible for business case analyses improving the efficiency of the global manufacturing organization including world-wide Resins manufacturing. This also includes Make or Source analyses, site rationalizations (footprint activities) and following up on savings initiatives contributing to the overall Manufacturing financial targets.

Key financial point of contact for Cost of Poor Quality, costs of Global Manufacturing organization and Global Travel costs for Manufacturing.

Responsible for deployment of global policies and governance in Global HSE&S, Global Engineering and Global Manufacturing Center of Excellence.

Support the management of the global Akzonobel CAPEX portfolio and is familiar with the various reporting tools like HFM and 6-Keys.

Responsible for managing and reporting the savings portfolio in ANT (or newly created system) in close collaboration with the Transformation Office (TO-office).

Finance support for key Global Manufacturing projects and representative of ISC Finance in project teams providing hands-on support.


• Develop and manage an efficient, effective, accurate and timely financial reporting and planning cycle for Global HSE&S, Global Engineering and Global Manufacturing COE. 

• Supports and guides (cluster) manufacturing Controllers in the region to execute the Global Manufacturing strategy and functional ISC Finance strategy

• Expert at understanding the operations of the global manufacturing organization and responsible for driving financial analysis and using the insights to contribute to the decision making. Providing direction to the business following global finance guidelines and being able to articulate and easily explain them to the relevant stakeholders.

• Supporting the analyses in Global Make and Source decisions to determine and implement the Manufacturing footprint strategy across the region

• Play a prominent role in CAPEX planning (AR) and investment decisions by using both 6-keys as well as the global FP&A reporting.

• Manage the ISC savings portfolio in ANT; follow up and report in collaboration with the TO office.

• Collaborates with other areas of the Finance function to ensure reliable, timely and correct supply of information and the proper set-up and functioning of the ISC Finance planning & control-processes, administrative organization, internal control and information systems

Job Requirements

• Bachelor/Master’s degree in economics, accounting, business administration or equivalent

• 8+ years of experience in multiple finance positions in an industrial/manufacturing environment (this very much depends on the site and the profile of the candidate)

• Drives changes and transformation agenda with passion, continuous improvement minded, hands-on with a can-do mentality

• Independent, self-starting and interested in what is behind the numbers

• Highly analytical, with problem-solving and pragmatic skills

• Able to communicate effectively with site management and others on site

• Strong team player with good interpersonal skills

• Fluent in English, both verbal as well as in writing

• High proficiency in SAP and other business applications

• Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills

• Strong leadership skills and ability to build strong collaborative teams in a matrix organization, without necessarily relying on hierarchy

• High level of customer orientation, strategic orientation, results orientation, change management, ownership and collaboration

• Able to build (informal) networks within the organization and manage changes
